Storm
Hey guys, I thought you might like to see our little project, which is nearing completion. Storm is the creation of Barry Eastman and Mick Hand with help from Angus McPhail and myself. I'll also be the ballast.
The bike has a 1500cc Puma engine with a custom made 16 valve head. It has two turbos in series (compounded), so one turbo blows into the second turbo, multiplying the boost. It can make up to 120psi. It has liquid cooled intercooling between each stage, and the liquid is cooled by CO2. It has Motec fuel injection with 16 injectors running on methanol, and NLR AMS1000 boost control. It is 105" wheelbase and weighs 850lb.
We are hoping to test at the end of the month.
Enjoy

No, sorry. I can tell you that the bottom half is made from solid, and it has Yam FJ valve gear bolted to it. It has no skulls, and the valve seats are cut into the head itself, not separate.

Our Motec guy can put in a calculated map that will get it near enough to get up the track, then we will tune with EGT and lambda.

I would be interested in seeing the math behind the compound turbo setup. I've never see a setup like that before.

It's a popular technique in tractor pulling, some of those have 4 turbos in series and can make 250psi. It's covered in the Hugh McInnes book "Turbochargers" if you want to read up on it. As far as I know we are the first to try it on a bike.

It's a dry slider clutch and a 14" tyre. The clutch doesn't need to be big like a fuel bike because we have something the fuel bikes don't have - boost control
