If mtc makes a lock up for the zx10, buy it instead.....
their multi stage has 6 arms. So thier single stage should have 6 too, instead of 3 like the muzzy. 3 gives you no adjustability........
Why they did that I do not know......

Never said that......., for some reason, his bolts came out, but we will probably never know why......., but, the design limits the adjustability. But this thread will go nowhere without any info on the set up or anything else, to know how close the set up was, or how far off it was........

Okay, without you telling me the set up......, can you show a pic of the plate...., and how much digging was going on?
I can show pics of mine that I ran with my muzzy, it had what I would call dents........, but the arms were only a 1/8 inch so they could not over extend......., could that have happened?? the arms going over too far????
The buttons are good, but not the end all be all to fix things........, if it were, I would have had trouble a long time ago., i ran the zx12 muzzy lock up for 3 or 4 years........, and by my math, I had at least 750 passes on it.........
No telling how many Paul Stuart has put on that lock up last year........

Well I was using the stack height that muzzys sold with the lock up that was to be the perfect height. The only thing that i can do is put it in the bike and let you no how much travel is between the arms and the hat. Maybe one day next week i have a busy weekend will not get to it. as of now it has a long way to go.

Guys,
During my time with Muzzys, with the exception of a batch of pull rods that were not heat treated properly, 90% of all complaints on the lock up were clearly caused improper use and setup. I spent HOURS on the telephone walking people through simple problems stemming from not really understanding how the thing worked and what it was supposed to accomplish. Most times simply reading the instructions would have done the trick. there are LOTS of those in service.

Doug, no offense...., but I had both Dave and Doug, toldme that 3rd gear, at 16/56 gearing, pulling the clutch in the pits, or the end of the run, at maybe 30 mph tops, was the cause......, and no, it was not over weighted. Stuart racing can vouch for that........wink.
After going through two of the bad pull rods, Rob refunded my money, and one was sent out at no charge, But, the machining process, where the hole is in the end, is off. It makes the wall very thin where the button is........ This came from a Machinist who makes parts for several pro race teams. I made hundreds of passes on mine, so they work, but are no where near as durable as the MTC. We got tired of going into the semis or a final, and it breaking, so we made one out of tool steel........, that is the only complaint I have about the muzzy lock up itself........ I think if you offer such an item, you should also offer accessories, like different springs, or at least have a tech than can help.........
I even talked to you one day at a AMA event, and you did not want to talk to me........, only stating that Rickey had a multi stage, and you could not help me with any type of direction on finding a set of springs to work in my Muzzy single stage........., and acted like I was some type of spy. I was very disappointed. The quote from the guy I was with was, "What a bunch of jerks." It wasn't like you were busy, just standing in the lanes, and talking while there was an oil down........
Thank god another company helped me out, and with the help of another Pro Rider in another venue, we figured it out........., and now after hundreds of passes, and working things out on my own, (as lock up tunes are always kept secret......, even MTC will tell you that they really don't know that much, since when someone finds a tune that works, they never call back and let mtc know.......), I have learned lots of knowledge in the area, but I will say this, none of that help came from Muzzys. Then , they started selling the bearing support, and charging for it........., which should have been standard in the system anyway........ Rob made that right for me, after I blew my top about it, but really, they should have been given to every rider that purchased one........
There are some tiny things that on the 12, you have to do, other than other bikes......., but , this guys problem with a muzzy part, is about par for most of the time, or at least what I have seen here.........
Dave did swap out the gears on the back of a clutch basket I trashed a month or so ago, but even when I sent him photos, he did not email back, did not give me my tracking number in the email I asked for either. When I asked him to email me the order number you have to have to get the work done, he did not...... Every time, I had to call him.
Its not that big a deal, until you have other companies, like Brock's, that have such a better customer service dept, that there is no comparison......

Hell ya the buttons are worth it....If I had more HP, where I would need more weight on the arms I probably would need to put the buttons in my clutch hat....But my springs are so, "aaaahhumm"light so to speak.....(wink)....That I have no problems with the hat getting tweeked out...Or my rear tire spinning out off the line...
