Rider Weight. Does it make a difference?
There is a guy out here in New Mexico that is probably the lightest or one of the lightest motorcycle riders around.
He owns a 05 GSXR 1K that is for the most part stock except Slip-on and gearing.
Here is the scoop. He weighs about 92 lbs fully suited. Anyone else know someone that is as light or lighter?
Sucks as I am part of TFA. Weighing in at 250lbs.
Because of his weight or lack thereof, he can run a 9.95@141mph with a measley 1.74 60 ft. time at stock height and length. All of his acceleration happens the first 1/8th. He runs 123mph in the 1/8th. This is at a 5300' track with DA of 6800' on average.
On the street in 2nd gear up acceleration it is ridiculous........pulls damn near everybody the first gear. It sickens me!!

Since I weigh under 120 lbs now, I can tell you the difference is huge. I usually have to go up against someone with way more money or HP into their bike to make it a fair run. I usually handicap people 1 gear for light hearted roll-ons, but if its serious I just check out on them at will. Sometimes I'll go with oddball gearing just to give them a chance.
Like many other factors, weight matters.

There's a way to get around weight.... believe me, I know.
It's going to cost ya though!
Get with the right builder/tuner and get down to around 200lb's..... you won't have to worry about this guy anymore.

Again, you need to get with the right builder/tuner and get down to around 200lb's.
Money buys parts and labor.... it doesn't buy knowledge and experience. Take 9 grand to 3 different builder/tuners and you'll have 3 differently set-up bikes that run 3 different speeds.
I can offer a personal example on this matter.
Took my bike to Blais Cycle in Miami, they got 215rwhp out of my 1199cc ZX-12R + 40 shot. I later had Ace Performance build me a 1287cc N/A bike... makes approx 195rwhp.
My results under similar conditions with me racing @ the Florida 9/10th Mile.
Blais Cycle 215rwhp = 194mph
Ace Performance 195rwhp = 198mph
It was at this point when I became a firm believer that dyno horsepower is not even 1/2 of the formula for achieving speed. It's all about HOW and WHO set's up the bike.
