I shim valves and assemble transmissions on the kitchen table. I use my dining room table to do measurements!

ok, everything in dads bike checks out except 2 rods. both are SMALLER wtf? one by just a tiny bit about .006mm and the other by about .096mm. the one thats really small had the messed up bearings and ruined(too small) rod journal. so there might be bearing material built up on that one? dunno about the one that just close.... going to take them to a machine shop and try to get them sized to 40.002mm or so. unless you guys have a better option?...

Mad Mike has some good rods........
I do too........
His mic out good, i know. We thought about putting them in my motor......, but I had two that were fine, and found a matching set of 4 that miced exactly the same, so I just had to buy 4 browns..........

$100 or so to size em will be money well spent.

called machine shop. they said they probly just need to be cleaned up. dropping them of at 7:30 am

yes they are round. i only got the "small" ones sized. the other 2 were fine

were the other 2 round?
I get all 4 done, to keep all 4 the same length so i don't have issues with quench. But its only a few thou, so unless you are getting tight with quench or PTV all is good.

going to be putting this bike together with no milling of the head, and the block shim is going back in too, quench will be basically stock. i hadnt really thought about sizing the rods also changing quench height. good to know! ill keep it in mind when assembling my motor (tighter)
