Texas Mile report
AWESOME Texas Mile weekend, AWESOME!!!!!! The most Awesomest Texas Mile yet!!!
Dave Owen, Scott Guthrie, Terry Kizer, the stars came to battle the wind.
Charlie hit 240 with DaveO tuning & advising.
Best motor mph of the meet, couldn't happen to a nicer guy.
DaveO had so many people asking him for advice, you practically had to take a number. In true DaveO style he addressed everyone's issues one by one. whatta guy.
Kizer & Guthrie were also very, very helpful.
turbine car hit 324?,
turbine bike (190's??)
nearly full TFA turnout.
Gary - hit 202!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mad Mike - new personal best - 196.3
entropy new personal best - 196.8
MadMike Dad - umbrella
Johnny Cheese - rode mike c's busa
Robert - umbrella
Matt (wideout) - got a nail in r tire, had to leave early
Rustman - only TFA broken motor, still he hit 211
Rich - 116mph Dad's bagger
Rich Dad - bagger
Harry & Kate drove down from Oklahoma, harry made a pass
Mike C & entourage - 1397 busa
ZXAlan & hottie Lorie - umbrella
John Andresen - camera & umbrella
Chris - white Busa - was also sporting TFA colors
who am i forgetting...
also TFA adopted a big guy (name??) with a turbo busa, painted a really nice Y2K kwak green.
He rode the bike down from dallas to his 1st mile, no support team, hit 207 in that damn wind, then rode back to dallas.
TFA was definitely missing Buddy, Ryan, Wild Bill, sleepybuser, Matt from Dallas
Unfortunately my mission of 200mph was NOT accomplished :-(
i went 196.1, 196.8, 195.9 (sun), one flaky 181 - At the top of 5th, a big sidewind gust pushed me & cracked my concentration right at shifting time, went into the limiter.
I am happy about the increase in my mph over 192-193 previously, and i am happy with the consistency
Then...
Dave Owen made 4 passes on my heap Sun afternoon. 199.2, 199.8, 189.9, 199.7 After his 4th pass my nearly new SC-1 was showing its guts all the way around, couldn't go even 1 more.
Dave thinks there is an "issue" at 11.100 in 6th which is causing pwr to drop. This does not happen in 1-2-3-4-5. Go figure???
i WILL find the 11,100, 6th gear gremlin.
all sat & sun passes were made into a 12-22mph nearly straight headwind (accuweather 24hr history) which gusted even higher. flags flapping straight out.
sometimes there was a R front quartering head wind which made things even more interesting.
Lotsa folks will be posting pix, i forgot my camera...
GREAT event!

Just like Karl said, Awesome Mile event! Best one yet! There were some real big names out as well, which was real cool..........................................but hanging with TeamFatAss was even cooler!
Big thanks to JohnnyCheese, TFA, and my Big Bro for getting this old man in the 2 club!
I am sad Buddy was not able to hang out with us, but best wishes go to him from
myself and the whole crew!
Ryan "Osti", I can't wait to here your stories in October.
I would like to give those who were not at the Texas Mile a little perspective on the weekend. Remember though I am a nobody and an idiot, just my two cents.
Dave O's run of 199.7 was awesome. I saw everyone with their note book and pen out taking a lesson..................but Karl "Entropy" was right there with him running 196.8, only 2.9mph slower. Thats very, very impressive as Karl is at least 3-4 inches taller and a few full Tex-Mex plates heavier.
The weather conditions were also less than optimal, with a fairly heavy head wind, occasional from the side right to left as well, and with very, very frequent strong gusts. Last Texas Mile event in Oct. I ran around 191 foot shifting on just motor. This time I did an all motor run with an airshifter and was only able to make a pass at 183 mph. My motor was tuned very, very conservatively by my request. On just motor and C-16 I had around 205 HP, with the juice I was around 265HP. The conditions were less than optimal to say the least.
With that said I believe Karl's bike was running real strong and with just a touch less wind could have seen well over 200mph with him on there. Mad Mike would have been there as well. So don't loose sight, cause I want some more 12's running 200mph and some more TFA members in the 2 club!
Hope conditions are better for October and you fellas will be running 200+ no problems.

New guy here. Last 2 Mile events on an RC-51. Showed up on a turbo 12 this time, with lots of help from Mr.Turbo. Rode it under boost for the first time Friday morning. All was well until shifting into 3rd on the first pass, broke a gear in the trans. No pressue after that, so went and hung out, met Mad Mike and Entropy, and a few others. Great group, learned a lot, thanks guys, I'll be back

Awesome weekend! But wow the wind was a killer, can't wait to try again in October.
Great seeing everyone again , congrats to Gary, I wish you could have seen how crazy
all of TFA went in staging when you joined the club.
A guy from Miami, Tom , pitted next to us with his Stroker Busa built himself,
went 202 on motor also, it didn't hurt that he weighed 160 in gear.
Still a great accomplisment for his first attempt.
I also got a couple passes on a buddies Stk ZX-11, both passes 148mph. I just had to ride something with Kawi blood in it, I was having withdrawls
Anyone know who ended up with my 15lb. bottle, my Pops got in a rush to head home and I didn't realize I left without it?

Glad to have you on the boards LowFlyer. We spoke a little bit at the Mile, I was very
sad to hear about the tranny issues. There were quite a few bikes that ended up with
major issues as well. I am sure Mr. Kizer will get you fix up in a jiffy. Real nice meeting
him and you as well. Like Nox says, billet gears ---- RnD or you may try Robinson.
You may wish to get a hold of JohnnyCheese I know he still has a set of very rare Billet 5th and 6th OverDrive Gears. I don't know if he still has Billet Low 1st and Billet 2nd. I think
he might have sold them, but it's worth a try.
Just curious what kind of boost were you running and/or HP, if you do not mind shareing?
I am kind of conscerned as I still have some stock gears.

I have a stock tranny laying on the shelf, in perfect shape.
The Muzzy turbo was running an RnD tranny with billet gears, 1-4, and stock 5-6, with all marks mods I was told. Not sure how much stress you can really put into 5-6, at that kind of speed.....
Most damage is done with stock circlips still in, and a stock drum, and stock dog cuts.......
The 12 tranny sucks in stock trim........, it has cost me so much money in lost rounds, not shifting, that I could have bought two built trannys......
I will never run a bike without sending the tranny to mark first....., there is that much difference........

Thanks to all for the response. Let's see... Yes, i do my own wrenching and fabricating, with a background in aviation, and I should fit right in with Team FatAss! As far as the bike, it was set at 10 lbs of boost for the initial run. Should be good for 15. Internal mods were forged pistons, steel pins, valve springs and cylinder studs. The trans will be obviously be upgraded on this trip inside, along with a clutch basket and air shifter. Overdrive 5th and 6 sounds like a plan, too. Oh well, who needs a bank account?

Dont bother with the 5 and 6th over drive gears using only 10-15 lbs of boost.

If you are interested in OD 5th and 6th I'll PM you JC's # or Mr. Terry Kizer has it.
I am sure the 10lbs. of boost was just for a shake down run. I saw some
of Mr. Turbos ZX-14's come out last year on low boost and turn it up to run
some big numbers.
Don't worry It'll take a good 6 months for them to post results.
