For guys close to Iowa, please read
Well if any of you are close to Tri State raceway they are going to make a good effort to get a bike class going this year would be nice to see some guys show up and support it. I will be there for all 5 races! here is the info from there site
Tri-State Raceway in trying to make the Bike classes grow has made some changes to the ET Bike program. 2008 will implement a new class called Midwest Street Bike Series presented by Metro H-D and Suzuki, Hawkeye H-D, Silver Eagle H-D, Iowa City Motorsports and Leer's Cycle Center. Trying to get the classes to grow has been challenging to say the least. This change will hopefully get some new blood into the class. The air shifter/electronics bikes can run Pro Bike. No electronics, no wheelie bars, no air shifters, extended swing arm allowed (6" max) DOT tire only and no slipper clutches or automated clutch release. Must be street legal. The class will have $1000 guaranteed to win at all 5 races with a $35 entry fee. We will run the class twice in July and twice in August with the series ending in September as part of the (run for the Wally) National Dragster Challenge. Points will be the price of the eliminator and the season champion will receive a TSR Gold card and Champions jacket
Was told the 1000 is to win, runner up and rd money will be determined by bike count.

You need to allow air shifters on the streetbikes........, a slipper clutch is normally known as a slider, but your rules look like they allow a lock up, which must have an air shifter to shift. your rules put anything with an air shifter, in the same class as a bike with a delay box........, that makes no sense....., if you have a class with a delay box, rules are out the window for everything else. Thats fine in a class where they are allowed, but you are going to make a 64 inch zx12 that is street legal, with an air shifter bring a knife to a gun fight, no way.
allow lock up clutches, no sliders, no delay boxes, street tire only, a wb limit if you want, mufflers, whatever, but you are keeping already set up bikes from racing, By those rules, half of us could not enter........

Maybe I was not clear those are not my rules, I just posted this from the tracks web site. I just plan on running there and I'm more then willing to unhook my air shifter. as far as the rules I have nothing to do with it. I'm assuming no lock ups as well. There trying to keep it a street bike class. I think the rules are good. If you have more stuff then that there is always pro bike

I am just saying, you are going to limit your entries. I would not make the drive.
I was just making a suggestion.
Make it simple, go by the AMA street et rules, anyone can get on the internet, look up the rules, they are simple, safe, and it will help your turnout.
Make your pro bike rules like the ama Pro ET rules. SImple.
Saves all the phone calls, can I run this, what about this......, blah blah.

I hope you guys have better luck than we did here in FL ... First race we had 11 bikes in the street class.....You needed to run 5.30s to get in the game( 1/8 mile track ).... Last of the 6 races we had 2 bikes ........What happens is one fast guy shows up and nobody comes to the next race ...

Smoking it will be dail in, not heads up. We could never get a heads up to work around here either.
Nox I did not figure someone as far as way as you wouold drive up but if your a 200 to 300 miles away and want to bracket race, seems like a good plan.

If it was within 300 miles, I would come, but I am in AR. But thats what I am saying. We have races like that here, and they draw 50 to 60 entries, using the AMA street et rules........., they come from OK, TX, LA, MS, and TN, and MO.
simple. Keep the bar bikes out, they scare the crap out of new racers sometimes, no two steps, no delay boxes, DOT tires, head light, and tail light, and two inches of ground clearance, and go.
Do that, and you will have a ton of entries, and make a great program. Good luck

This is why we have one, geared low to go fast, I shift 2nd gear before the 60 ft marker, and no way could I be safe, and launch with my left foot on the peg...........

The reason behind the air shifter rule to me is simple, this is a street bike class that is designed to get people to race that have min. amount of mods. Younger kids get scared to line up with Busa's, 14's, 12's that are streched, air shifted. this class needs bikes to show up to make a go, and right know around here on a test and tune night there will be 20 to 50 bikes, come race day 2. If you have lock ups, airshifters, etc there is always heads up classes or pro bike. just my 2 cents. And I'm not scared to foot shift did it last year on my 14 and went 9.14 with a 1.44 60ft had no problems shifting.

Mad Mike I raced you last year at Byron on what appered to be a stock r1 right? That fits the rules and I know your pretty good on it! so for 35 entry and 1000 to win you should really show up.

That was 7.51 at 1000ft. I think it was 95 or 98 degrees.
Like I said, you will be hard to fill the class by turning away half of your field.
