aluminum sprocket nuts
anybody try them? I saw a set on ebay. they have steel inserts like a heli coil for threads, so just the outside is aluminum(and anodized any colour you want), but im sure they would be quite a bit lighter than the stockers, and waaay cheaper than TI.
are they legal for drag racing? lsr? am i crazy for thinking about trying them(are they safe)?
they are only $15

they are but If I were you I would take a dump before you race and you probably will go faster...
seriously I dont think I would use them because sure enough you would need to change out a sprocket and you would strip 1-2 of them.... well that would be my luck anyway...

Spend the money and get the Ti nuts. You going to trust those little bits of aluminum to hold your sprocket on?
Side note - Ti nuts will not work with Vortex sprockets. The Ti nuts have a larger flange and the Vortex counter sunk holes are not large enough.

I have run them for over 7 years. Many sprocket changes. NO ISSUES!

Be sure to torque to spec and use teflon tape over nut when tightening.
