JohnnyCheese dyno: some tests...

Y2K 1427, 15.9:1 CR

1. Ridgeracer ECU reprogramming for extended rev limit:
- yep, it works, got 12,500 limiter, otherwise everything else works just the same. :Bigthumb

2. new OEM injectors vs RC370's:
- RC's make a pony or so more everywhere, tests done back to back within an hour or so

3. VP-Q16 vs C-44:
- Q16 LOST 5-6hp throughout the range, tests done back to back within an hour or so
- time for Tim Chin to say: "told you so"
- dumped 4 gal Q16 into my cop car, didn't make it any faster either.

4. DL-32/LC-1 A/F vs DJ250 sniffer A/F:
- same results when DJ250 probe is exactly where the LC-1's O2 sensor is. On my Brock SW my O2 sensor is near the f of the meg. It reads way richer than the DJ250 probe which is poked up into one of the 2:1 collectors.
- I'm gonna remount the O2 sensor further "upstream"

5. Five #8's at Taco Bell just barely fed JC, George, #1 Son and me:
- next time get 6 or 7 #8's

Very informative day; Thanks Johnny Cheese!

BTW: I love the FactoryPro Dyno, but for these kind of tests the DJ250 is faster.

It seems all everyone wants is the numbers, not the back to back tests, eh??

222-224 at 10k, dip to 219 at 10.5-11, rises to 226-227 at 12000+

Hey Karl,

The only thing I can't resolve (other than the Taco Bell) is the power difference between injectors. Is the repeatability of the dyno itself within .5% of full scale? If so, does it just come down to duty cycle or volume uniformity that allows the RC's to make more power? What injector duty cycles did you record during your runs? Have you flow tested all of these injectors to ensure that they are flowing uniformly?

Damn shame about the fuel. I wish there were a better way to characterize a fuel than just specific gravity, distillation curve and MON, such that some real-world performance information could be gleaned from the data.

I wanted to see how it makes that peak number too :P
got a pic?
with that compression, do you only have those 2 options for fuel?

I have lots of options for fuel; just want to find one less expensive than C-44

VP113 is a possibility, U2, MRX01, C-25, and more.

BUT: I am suspending testing for a bit. Gonna pull my motor down on Nov 18, build another experimental motor from the shells up

addicted to building motors?? hahahahahahahahahahaa
I have had my "big head" project going for 18mo, one "learning experience" after another, but next weekend i should all the parts to try again.

Vince,
Yep on the upper 1 of the 3/4:1 is where i am planning to mount it, just as you say, but as vertical as possible. I want to keep my LC-1 under the tank.

I want to keep my LC-1 under the tank.

This I do not understand??

with it pointed Inward, the wires are even closer to the Bike and inside the fairing. I have the Oval Hole for the Pipes and a small round hole for the Sensor and wire!

Vince,
I don't have an LM-1; I use an LC-1 to run the O2 sensor and the connection between them is a bit more bulky than the LM-1/O2 sensor set up.

I want to keep the LC-1 / O2 sensor junction under the bottom of the tank which limits a bit where i put the bung.

In any event, i want to hit the "1" tube out of the 3/4 "2". I think it should be fine on top.

Why not "be a pal" and send me some logs so i can see what yr AF TRACE LOOKS LIKE??? :d

Entropy, just curious how did the 12,500 look compared to the 12,300? Was the motor still pulling?

Also curious how C44 compares to pump gas?

Just in case anyone would like to know pump gas to C16 only lost a few hp, nothing
too major. I am thinking of trying C23, I'll post results when I do. Both are nice for higher compression nos or turbo applications.

hey Gary,
The "12500" limiter start hitting at about 12400-ish and motor was climbing in hp.

I've never done a test on pump gas vs C-44, my CR is way too high for pump gas.

Cool on C16 being close in hp to pump gas. What CR are you running??
