brakes dragging. how much et/mph lost?
I noticed that my front brakes were dragging very bad when i had everything up on the stand when i had my rotors off to get drilled. i took the calipers apart and there was a huge build up of brake dust/dirt on the pistons which i believe was holding the pads aginst the rotors (pistons couldnt slide back in enough) . my wheel would barely move when i gave it a big "spin" (about 1/4 turn). with everything back together now the wheel will spin over a few times before it stops . just wondering how much that would have added to my times at the 1/4 mile and how many mph it knocked off. im guessing maybe half a tenth and 2-3mph?

I pried my pads off my rotors at Maxton, went from 202.7 to 202.9....but there could have been other variables (like temp changes and wind) between runs.
I would venture at most a 1/10, more likely 1/2 that, but probably reflected in mph....1-2? 2-3 seems within the scope of possibility if it really was that bad.

my wheel wouldnt spin around a 1/4 turn, now it will do several with the same force. it had to be holding me back some!

KZ,
there are some threads on this issue way back, but basically if you have a mostly track bike, simply take apart the calipers and clean everything with scotchbrite till all is shiny, then assemble without the dust seals. Your dragging brakes will magically stop dragging at all.

I cleaned them up and the pistons actually go back into the clipers now lol. you should have seen the build up of shit on them. actually, ill show you once i get this camera thing sorted out, i took pics when i took them apart.
