head resurfacing

I was just reading an article in turbo diesel register about head and cylinder block resurfacing. The comment that was made was not to get what the car guys refer to as resurfaced but a much finer grinding. He said, one should not be able to catch a fingernail on any of the swirl marks.Supposedly, there isn't alot of places that do the fine grind.Has anyone ever heard of differences in surface machining?

I believe the HRC power-up manuals specify a surface finish of 8 RA or better in order to assure proper head gasket sealing. That's pretty smooth.
