I remember seeing a post where a reusable gasket is available...I need to know who sells it?

Called scnitz and ordered.. I thought it was them..
more on this topic:
Old hand dragracers at the track do not use gaskets at all.. just silicon or RV ( blue) gasket and flange applier. non hardening...
I used at it worked .. the second time anyways.. a bald spot was left somehow at the first application and had to re-do. then it worked...
then after a pass the inside gasket (brand new gasket started leaking) not nice...
I wonder if the cosmetic gasket will be better than OEM kawasaki clutch cover gasket...I know I will find out.. not rocket science...
Muzzy lockup extra aluminum piece for lockup is notorious for oil leaks.. is my impresiion..
I think someone else mentioned having a problem like I have had not that long ago on this forum..
any comments or experience? In other words what might be better (am asking)
1. Cosmetic Gasket (is it better then oem?)
2. No gasket..silicon or RV gasket non hardening stuff?
Thanks...

Hey Salsa1,
Go to a industral parts store and ask if the carry silicone in sheets, mine is blue in color and is about .120 thick. I just taped my stock gasket to it and traced it with a ball point pen and cut it on the lines.
For the holes, go to the hardware store and get some hobbie brass tubing that will either fit over one of your bolts or just a hair under sized. Take a sharp knife or deburr tool stick it in the end of the tube and turn the tube till is sharp. Line this up with your holes and twist and push down, this will make clean cut holes.
Tighten with a 1/4 ratchet till about 1/4 to 1/3 of it pushes out and stop. Do not use factor setting for bolts. Way to much.
I have had it on there since April with "0" leaks. cost me about $5.00 for a 1 foot square piece. i just clean it after I remove it with either solvent or brake cleaner.
Doc.

I had a problem with stock gaskets and MTC spacer, never stock with the muzzy,
Cometic fixed the problem. Use what works, and has less mess. I have had the cover off about 20 times since using the cometic, no leaks.

I use the good gaskets,, And to prevent the covers from slipping when taking them on and off,I used two 6mm studs on either side of the cover and spacer to hold them from falling off the motor when taking them off at the track or where ever.... Works for me...Jusr need two 6 mm nuts..

Thanks Joe and Nox, Stuart ...I heard what I needed to be more sure about the cosmetic gasket...
Joe ...I actually bought some gasket material at advance auto parts store and went to Walgreens on the way to the track...bought barber scissors and special pens and a paper punch hole thing to make my own gasket.. just that when I got to the track.. had my old drag racing buddies showed me I did not need a gasket and they gave me a tube of RV stuff to use.. it worked...but my inner brand new gasket started leaking...
I will try the cosmetic gasket for the inner and probably the blue RV stuff for the outer gasket on the muzzy spacer .. I appreciate you guys sharing your findings...
Need to warm engine up good in any case way before I race to ensure I got this under control...
BTW:
Managed a 9.66 1/4 mile and 1.51sec 60 ft with 15/50 gearing... not bad for a 1000 cc bike that has 102 mph first gear to start with...
going back in two weeks with a 15/54 sprocket combo( 4 more rear teeth) ...should be in the 1.4's at least (60 ft times) ...bike is going straight as an arrow so far....got a few tricks to try yet as well.... running 7 lbs in mickey Thompson slick...
Will inspect clutch fibers , re-oil and take her back out...dumping the clutch took some effort...
I think I will get there....
Gracias!!

No need to do that, just tune the clutch......
Is the tire hooking? Where is the bike bogging? 30 ft, 40 ft?
7 lbs usually worked real good for me, all the way to 1.32 short times.........
Forget about RTV, if you get it in the motor you will be in trouble......, use two C O M E T I C gasgets........,

ok Nox...Schnitz only had one gasket left.. will call cosmetic directly...not sure where I am bogging down yet..gearing was not ideal.. and with oil leak problems only got 4 runs in ...
Will pay closer attention to how she behaves with the larger sprocket.. still ; I made progress and got usable feedback on a number of things so I can tell what is going on...
bike is going straight.. thats important...driver is barley used to dumping or snapping clutch..
I think I will tell a lot on my next visit to the track..should get at least 10 runs in during that weekend...
will leave clutch settings alone for now...stock springs .. no weights...at the moment...
Thanks.

Hi 1969ca; nice of you to chime in...I have a spot at the outer spacer that has leaked...but the "cosmetic" brand re-usable gasket has foam like properties that (I hope will take care of this spot)...
On another note:
Did you improve on the stock springs with thin washers.. did you try to tune the lockup for the ZX-10R?
Try Barnett springs or just employing three springs instead of six?
Just asking.. early in my stages of tunning still...will try with stock springs first and see what results (as a base...) I have precision washers to mess with as I go along....006 inch thickness.. have to check to see what I have..
May use 2 washers on each spring ... or three...Brock has washer additions recomendations for dragracing with extended swing arm I got some time ago (using stock springs) ......I will be experimenting if not satisfied ..
wondering what you may have tried to improve 60 ft...
Not much info for the ZX-10R specifically....lots of settings that a guy can try...
Thanks..
