higher CR than before, twin injectors, 1340cc (vs 1352 for the 14.)
Sounds like a good race to me!

man even a good rider will fluctuate that much every few runs... it will be crazy to see, but I dont see them gaining that much with that little. but again it will be very interesting to see!

well they made 1 hp more. With the flies out the busa shouldnt out tq the 14. The only thing that is in the busa favor is the aeros.

How? It makes 198 to our 197 .( at the crank )... One hp and it's 11 pounds heavier than the zx14 ... dry zx14 474, busa dry 485 ... That 198 hp was 200 hp but the number came down ...Now i read some where that it's down to 192 ....Till we get these things on a good dyno side by side it's guess work at best..

Oh and one other thing they kept the same clutch and will need a brock clutch hub like the older Busa ...You can't launch like the zx14 with that clutch ...I have tried ...

did they go with the 1 piece setup for the lower case and piston cylinder? If they did then its going to very interesting with the aftermarket. I figure it will up to the rider to show best number. those guys are friends over there u know. they know what each other are up to. and they will stay neck to neck from here out. either could build a 240 hp 400 lb machine any day.

heres the thing.........
you CAN go HUGE on motor with a busa, NOT on a Kaw......
I talked to Shawn Gann a while back............, he told me what mph his outlaw ran in the 1/8 mile........, on motor...........
I cant run that in the 1/4...............
We have to go stroker to get what they get with pistons...........
BUT, stock bike, for stock bike............, I think it and the 14 will be neck and neck, just like the 12 and old busa.........
Also, you will still be able to turbo it easy..........., which will make it sell more.........
The 14 is a great bike, but just like the 12, they messed all up with the stupid frame........
Hard to turbo equals less sales these days...........
Nothing has impressed me enough to sell the Purple People Eater yet...............
So sayeth the Nox.

Looks to me they built a motor with a bit less cc's than the ZX-14 to beat it and have bragging rights of doing the job with a smaller motor.. a classic scheme to humiliate and feed the Suzuki fans something sure to sell....if they succeed which they have .. (duh).. tested already before releasing ....will be a sure seller....
marketing basics...
mods will still rule the order of the day on the street and strip...
my 2 cents...
should be close so rider ability and weight will influence greatly as well...
ZX-14 is still what it is....but the game continues as well...nothing new...
Kawasaki will ante up soon enough... stock per stock anyways...

I think Suzuki is looking at Land SPeed Racing where they can run at the top of the 1350 CC CLass where Kawasaki will be at the Bottom of the 1650 CC CLass. I cannot imagine that 2 to 4 CC the Kawasaki needed to lose to get below the 1350 CC Limit could make enough HP to Justify putting it out of the 1350 class

Suzuki's website says 11% more power. The August issue of Motorcyclist that has an exclusive on the new 'Busa with the development team said they were shooting for a 10% increase. Using Brock's dyno numbers of 151 RWHP that puts the new 'Busa at 166 RWHP compared to Brock's 14 at 163 RWHP. Given that the new 'Busa is also heavier than '07 I think we may be looking at a dead heat. Ultimately, I think it may come down to the clutch, which favors the 14.

I think that during the magazine testing, the Busa will edge the 14 in the roll on, torque and horsepower numbers. The main reason is the secondary flies. Of course they won't mention that in the magazines. In the real world, the 14 will beat it up to about $2000 worth of add ons, after that, the large aftermarket part advantage will for the busa will take over. I think they kept the lower cc's also to prevent from going to a on piece lower case and cylinder set..ie you will be able to bore the hell out of it...and since the frame is not an issue (height) you will also be able stroke it like a porn star!
Kaw builds great motors, but it seems they do...just enough to get the job done...nothing more

What test are you refering to and where did you see these test. I agree with smokin even if they are DEAD on on horsepower and torque they will still be 11 pounds heavier and the STOCK BUSA CLUTCH SUXXX!!! so there should be no way that a stock busa should perform as well as a stock 14 on the strip, but only time will tell the truth

With a 2" longer wheelbase,I'll bet it gets a better time just from the launch. And they said it was the same motor, pictures show a sepparate cylinder block.
