Worm one called me and the other I called. Closer to what was said by one of them was "It only takes one Gun Ho fresh out of the Academy trying to make a name for himself to cause something like this." The Other one "WHat harm would it have caused if he had just let him go?" "One of the first things you learn is you cannot catch every person that breaks the law"!
This was not about "Getting into their heads" it was about what was coming out of their mouths and specially the Park Policeman who has been in his share of chases said there are just too many things that can go wrong and you do not want to be in a position where it can be your fault! I do not know you, but I have know them for 20 and 30 years. I was there when one was shot with a shot gun but the gun was loaded with Bird Shot as opposed to Buck Shot and he really got lucky! So No I do not know how it feels to be a Cop, but I can sure understand what they said!

...fair enought, VH...more experienced cops say the same things when things go bad no matter what the incident...almost all of us went through the same gung-ho phase right out of the academy...fortunately most of us pulled it back asap when we saw mistakes made by others....so....we still don't know the age or experience level of that cop, so the rookie thing is speculation...we still don't know ALL of the details...so anything that is said here against that cop or cops in general is just venting at this point....

I agree!! But we both know that if they ever find this guy, he is in DEEP Deep trouble! He most likely will get Vehicular Manslaughter and take the weight for EVERYTHING just like if a thief breaks into someones home and shoots at the Police and the Police shoot back and Kill the people living in the house The THIEF will be blamed for ALL of the Killings not the police who actually shot them! I am expecting the Police to put up a reward to get this guy and someone will possibly turn him in and then it is on provided he lives to go to trial!

...man, i'm glad there's someone who is NOT in law enforcement who knows the potential reality of how these things could pan out  ....now had I said the very same thing, I'd have been accused of being a one-sided punk cop with nothing but subjective things to say!
...money talks...I hope whomever knows who the motorcyclist is (if there indeed was one) will do it NOT because of the money, but because it is the RIGHT thing to do...then donate the money to start a trust fund for the victims...

Only if he was aware that the cop was pursuing him, as the unlawful act, amounting to a felony.
You have to have the felony first.

The cop should've done exactly that! That's what they have radios for. But, the end result of the pursuit was preferred in lieu of that? Fuck that, that cop was wrong! I've seen it far too many times! I'm not lumpin' them all together. This cop was wrong!
Around here we have far more cops than is arguably necessary, our taxes are real good & high to pay for this inordinate amount of officers. They basically have turned into "armed tax collectors"! With serious egos & attitudes. It's disgusting , really!
