boots

I just bought a pair of work boots that I'll also use at the track should I ever get the bike running. When I explained what they will be used for,he mentioned about a coating. This is a liquid plastic that they put on the toe for extra scuff protection. He used duct tape to cordone off the area to be coated and scuffed it up.Applicator looked like an oversized epoxy applicator. It takes 12 hrs to cure.I had him apply it part way down the side for when the shoe drags on launch.Cost was $28 and includes another coating if this wears away.I don't know how well it'll hold up but I figured I would give a heads up as to alternatives out there.

I pitch fastpitch softball and use the glue on rubber toes to protect my cleats. Started using them on my boots to protect the toes at the drag strip. They don't last a long time but they do help. I'm going to have new soles put on my boots with metal protectors like the Bates grag boots have.

Any sporting goods store should have them in the baseball section.

Bates boots have a replaceable metal guard around the toe and inside edge, without it mine would be toast.
