Quickest 1/4 pass?

Im just curious, whats the quickest pass that anyone has made on a 12 without a swingarm or wheelie bars?...Mine to date is a 10.15 @ 143.8 with a 1.76 60'. Dont get me wrong I know thats nothing to write home about but wanting to know what the possibilties are with the stock wheelbase...Thanks all

another question

Am also curious how much an extended swingarm benefit me? My 60ft's vary quite a bit from the 1.85 to the best of 1.76. My personal goal is to run an 9.?? with the bike and then install a swingarm...I do hopefully at some point want to compete in the local area Streetbike Shootout class..Thanks again...Chris

My best is a 9.25 at 158 with the help of a 1361 kit. Stock motor best was 9.60 at 147. A few guys here have run in the 9.30s and 40s with stock motors. I'd say they were exceptional riders though, and light! Get the bike as low as you can get it and keep making runs.

Need4Speed was running 9.4's with an arm / stock motor!!!!

I only ran a 9.90 - stock motor / stock swingarm. I started racing the Busa before I got all I could out of the ZX12R.

how about 9.30 at 150mph? stock arm, stock tire, stock motor. Just the usual HMF pipe, -1T sprocket, K&N's and lowering. (the 140lb rider didn't hurt either) Pump gas!
:-D yer hurtin' my feelin's there honey!! One minute it's "Big Al's the BOMB!!",........the next it's "BA-who?!?!"
heheheh

Team Fat Ass "weighs in" at 9.63 @ 145, stock motor, stock arm (755lbs), with a dense cloud of clutch particles swirling in my wake.

the 1361 w/6" arm has gotten me to 9.12 @ 154. 10 more hp + nutec might get me in the 8's; we'll see in a mo or so...

LOL - nice imagery entropy. I guess a lockup would give you 1-2 mph, and spare your plates some abuse downtrack - ever thought about it?

No 9.5's with the stock arm, that was with my 6" arm, I think the best I ever ran with my stock arm was a 10.02, but I did notice that the more miles I put on the bike the better it ran. and Im TFA guy at 5'10" and 230...

My new 2002 should be quicker. Already turned a 9.608 at 147, stock arm w/ Muzzy, one tooth down on the front, stock map. 800 miles on the odo. As it loosens up it should run better. Of course the air will get worse as summer sets in. I am 6' 1" and weigh 210.

ZRXDean -
My clutch destruction is somewhat down since I got the arm and went to 17/51 gearing. I abuse the clutch much less than the ole "snap n' slide" days.

I haven't thought of the lockup mostly because I am too broke pouring cash into the motor, but also because I really don't understand the benefit over the 6 new Muzzy springs I am running now. If i even grow balls big enough to just throw the clutch out and pin it, maybe then I will get a lockup/??

You guys and girl just blow me away. You lot are some very serious speed merchants. I would love to get the times you are getting. Under 10 secs on stock arm and stock engine is seriously fast. I only have a 10.4 to my credit so I have to do some serious practice. I have my bike set up with NOS but refuse to use it until I can get some respectable times. The fastest I have seen a ZX12 go in England was a 9.51 by my friend Lorcan. That has a long arm and some head work done. I know the tracks over here are total shit but even so you guys and girl deserve a big pat on the back. Maybe one day I can break into the nines.

With the power that your 1361 produces -and your TFA status your clutch is most likely slipping somewhat at the top end of the track. Lockups allow you to put your OEM springs back in, and have plenty of slippage at the launch, then as your speed (not RPM) increases, the arms on the snowflake are pushed out, preventing slip. Plus you can fine tune the spring tension and arm weight to help your 60 foots, and save your clutch plates. With the money you spend on plates, you might save $ in the long run..

Awsome Replys!!!

Thanks to everyone for all the info..We have some VERY fast people in here...Should have said my bike is using the Muzzy Ti system, K&N's, PC3R and is strapped and lowered, and 16-44th comobo...The rear of the bike is in the 2nd hole on the Muzzy links. Does it need to be lower?...Also the sprocket combo im using i think is to agressive, bike always wheelies in 1st and sometimes have to abort run.

Muzzy Links eh

when I had the muzzy links, I drag raced with them on the bottem hole.

Now I'm using Kennedy's links, they're adjustable and I really like them. I can raise it back up no matter where I'm at, and it only takes a few minutes.

At the strip, the bike is about 1-2" off the ground.

...btw, when you feel that front wheel coming up, try 'fanning' the clutch just a hair,..you know, pulling it in just a fraction *more* than whereever it happens to be at. You can stay in the gas, and usually the front end will settle back down. Works for me.

tracks

Hey NM you are a big fella so 10.4 is quite respectable. The quickest I got totally stock was 10.1, and 9.9 with a pipe. I'd like to be able to blame the tracks for not running 9.6s, but the truth is I just couldn't keep the front down (no strap at that time).

ZRXDean,
good explanation, sounds logical, and it looks like a lockup should be in my future. not immediate future cause I am tapped out after the motor stuff, but this year fo sho'.

Okay, I will post my slow ass times!! My best pass is a 9:68, and I have backed it up with a 9:69 and three 9:70's! I have a full Muzzy Ti, strapped, Ignition advancer, 17/48, Bear stacks, and Links in the middle hole. I know there are some low 9:60's or maybe a 9:50 if I ever get my 60's like I want them. Best MPH is 145.89 I think. No PC either.... Now if I put that 6 in arm on, I see some 9:40's for sure!!

I just started racing this year

Actually I bought my first sport bike in sept. (former harley guy)

So far I've been to the track 5 times this year and started off running 10.8's now I'm running 10.5's and a couple of high 10.4's with 1.8 60' mostly .

I have a 2001 with an akrapovic pipe , k&n's , and a power comander and muzzy lowering links in the back ,I'm lowered 3/4" on the tree in the front and have a strap .

Any pointers would be helpful.I would really like to see the 9's by the end of the year .
