There ya go! 200mph club here we come.

I was looking at the Maxton time sheet, boy you sure don't get many runs there.
I will be back with a better plan, more HP, and make as many passes as possible.

Better start that diet today, more carido less weights ;~)

Hey everyone! Sorry I haven't posted up much, but I've been stupid-busy at work.

It really was my pleasure to meet all of you. the kindness/coolness by everyone was truely humbling. I learned a lot, especially about prep prior to heading out for an event. And of course, like Ali says..."its all about MPH..." Thanks for everything. October is not likely, but we (me and my son) are gonna try and swing it. Should be stretched, slammed, shifted and juiced by then hopefully even a little lighter

BTW---its a 3XL on the TFA shirt! and I'm only 297 fully suited. LOL

After a brief review I think Buddy still holds the title of the fastest ZX-12 at the Texas Mile.

You never know, next time he might also hold the fastest ZX-14 title as well.

Congrats Buddy!!!! Can't wait to see you running on that 14 and show all them youngsters how its done in October!

I wish I could have made it!!!! I had too much to do, too much to buy, too much to
learn so I guess I will say I'm not going to Goliad in Oct, and by the process of reverse
outcome perhaps I will be able to make it then. I still have reservations about showing up
with an 05 still restricted and being the slowest guy there. I guess I will have to wait
and see....

The bike only restricts the output shaft speed in 6th gear. What happens after the output shaft is entirely up to you. You could go down a couple of teeth with the rear sprocket to get a bit more speed, but I think this would put you at a big disadvantage. The engine is not quite making peak power yet when the "early rev limit" in 6th shuts you down. The air at the Texas Mile was THICK and TOUGH this March. You will want to be using every bit of available power as you approach the finish.

For those of us who can rev to 11625 or more in 6th, stock gearing (18/46) is plenty tall on a N.A. stock motor, too tall if theres a headwind.

If I were you-

I would use 18/42 or 19/45 gearing. Either of these will give you about the same speed as we run with stock gearing. The only difference, you'll be doing it in 5th gear.

This tall of gearing will make the bike hard to launch. But this is not a drag race, ET doesnt matter and the launch has little effect on what speed you are going 1 mile later.

Hope to see you in October.

~Rob~

Count me in!

And no disrespect to Rob at all but 18/42 or 19/45 with anything remotely stock-ish with TX headwinds is SUICIDE for mph! Even 18/45 was too tall and I weigh 120, shoot a 40 shot and had carbon fiber wheels! Think long and hard before you go down that route.

Indeed it is about MPH and not ET, but you have a LIMITED DISTANCE to get that done....cross the 3/4 mile mark....and you'll realize just how far off your mark you are as you approach the mile mark "pissing in the wind" with that gearing!

Go to zx-12r.org, I think someone just posted they did 196+ MPH or something on the dyno with stock gearing on a 2005, using the G-pack. Dr. Ryan was using it and didn't get decisive results ... yet, trapping 186 at Maxton last Oct.

Truth be told, and this is hard for many people to swallow, unless the wind stops blowing, if you're stock-ish you don't have a good chance @ 186+ so your limiter won't be an issue. Of course I'd get it sorted out, but if for some reason you DON'T, head up anyways. Its humbling! If it were me on a stock-ish bike, stock displacement naturally aspirated I'd gear 18/47 w/those winds and be happy with ANYTHING over 190, seriously!

A.

I realize that it would be optimistic to think that a stock 05 would reach the 186 barrier. It would be my luck going to the mile restricted and end up having epic conditions, and watching
someone on a 04 or 05 with the g-pack get into the high 190's. I also think that some have
missed the signifigance of the post by capt10ed, or maybe I misinterpret the results, but
I would think that if the g-pack overrides the ecu speed restriction it definitely opens the door to possibilities, after all if you have a modded to hell 04/05 and have an ecu that signals
"hold at 186" you would just get there quicker. I had planned on spending time with Buddy
to go over some things but I just havnt had the time. I still have alot to get done. This is just one of the trees I feel compelled to try to climb.
