Any tips for first bracket race?
Tomorrow the local track is having a bracket race for bikes, 1/8 mile. I have been drag racing a bit but have never competed in an actual bracket race. I know its not the fastest bike but your dial in. the classes are 7.99, 6.99, 5.99 I run 6.50-6.80, I think I will we in 6.99 class. I am learning more as I go on and have a good coach with me, he has one this race in class several years now, but his bike is down and he is going with me to watch wheelspin etc and help me set up. I am going to drop my bike all the way down, run about 1 or two gallons of 110, and will be taking two nos tanks full. It will be a learning experience I expect. I have no gadgetry like 2 step or airshifter but was running consistent with other gears I ran last, just got to dial in lower ratio and hope for the best.

since you are Index racing instead of bracket racing you will not need to do anything special since you run faster then 6.99 anyway... you just need to get a wheel on the guy next to ya and play with the throttle to stay in front...
but you need to know how much HP= MPH the guy is running next to ya to make sure you dont let off to much...

the trick is to cut as clost to a perfect light that way at the end you can play with him and get ahead of him, but make sure your not too far ahead of him bc your chancing breaking out

leave the NOS off, less stuff to worry about.get in a groove(riding).try and repeat each round.RELAX,cut a light (better than opponent),hit shift points.........Keep It Simple.

I was running worse at the new track then hoped for. I was having major wheelspin issues on the nos. Having wheelspin issues without it too. Went sideways at about 90 but saved it. Redlighted after a bunch of runs and got eliminated. Still running stock wheelbase, stock motor, nos, pilot power street which sucks on track.
I feel that this track was far more tricky then where I usually race, seems like I was losing traction after 1st hundred feet or so, 60 foots were OK, not great. I have to play with gearing and tires more to get back down on times. I am heading back to my old track for some tweeking.
