zx-14 CLUTCH burnt

well after about 3 weekends (10-15 passes per weekend) at the track with my 14, the clutch fried sunday. no back to back runs, tried not to slip it very much, and i dont have much experience about buying clutches, never had one go out. id appreciate any advice on which one to get, where, and about how much they run. couple of guys at track say go w/ fact clutch w aftermarket springs.... any info would be greatly appreciated!

That price is probably for steels and fibers... very good chance you only need fibers and steels may just need to sand down a bit with 600 or 1200 grit sandpaper if they are not warped...

maintenance manual tells ya how to check to see for warpness I would believe... basically see if each steel plate does not not lie perfectly flat ...probably can buy individual steels or fibers ....

look into this .. can save ya a bit of $$

i asked this in the zx14 forum too, but brocks said it wouldnt hurt to put spacers in springs making them tighter, but my question is, wouldnt that make the bike a lot more wheelie prone with stock wheelbase?

eklipse636, A couple guys said the spacers did not work to well with stock wheel base, I have a set and have not put them in yet because of that. I'm doing 1.57 to 1.60 60fts and have over 70 passes and 4000 street miles and clutch is fine. I use mobil1 blue cap car synthetic.

I've shimmed mine to 0.090 still felt like stk, going up to 0.140
let you know after this weekend how it felt.
100 passes, clutch only half worn, measured @ 54mm just this week.
Both the hub and basket show no signs of wear yet.
60 ft. 1.68 / 330 @ 4.35 (bike & rider 775lbs.)
I use Repsol semi-synthetic.

Still going strong, still has stk clutch feel.
I let a buddy who owns 2 06' Busas ride it,
he was just blown away said it felt like
a freight train in warp overdrive, guess I'm just use to it

Stock wheel base wheelies are more from the HAND than the springs...
You just need to get used to the feel...
