Superbike mike kit.In my opinion,it was not worth the money.Good for ego bragging but with the same amount a 1270 with head work would give you more power.

You have to have a offset crank to run it dont you?

1290 is only 27cc less...., and proven reliable...........

NO. You do not have to have an offset crank. However that being said...I wouldn't run an offset block without an offset crank.

1290

If I had it do to over again I would have gone 1290 and done alot of head work with cams. Anything bigger and you start to shorted the live of the engine and maintenance goes way up. We have built a 1290 with spray and head work and he has gone a few 8.48's at 169. He is about 200 without gear.

who makes the 1290 kit ? Is it a billet aluminum block or do you bore out your own top end ? I figured since the 1317 kit is a whole new block that it would be more reliable than if you bore out your original .

I have a sbm 1320, ran well but it costs to much. Go with the 1290. 900 dollars vs 2800.

With stock head and cams 185-200 depends on set-up and tune.

buck80mph...
my 2 cents if i may...
These guys are all right on the money... do the 1290... its reliable.
The offset kits... well lets just say a bike that holds together, always runs faster than one that won't run, blows up or wears itself out.

I've owned enough equipment to realize more is not always better...

Don't get me wrong, stock sucks... BUT
The farther you get from stock, generally the more it costs, and harder it is to keep running

sometimes we have to learn the hardway...
cheers!
