lesbian motors back on the road

Rode for the first time today and it definately is an arm wrencher.Hunts 500rpms at idle and runs rough until about 3500 when all hell breaks loose.I hope to have it remapped on mon. or tues. but I added 2 more bars down low for now in case of it being lean.I'ld like to thank all those for the encouragement and advise that I get from this site.I'm just waiting on getting an eye exam and then I'll go for my license.Hopefully I will have had 1 or 2 t&t get use to the bike again. With the swingarm ext. on it is quite heavy trying to turn on the road and if I wasn't going to take it to the track,it'ld be a hoot to ride stock wheel base.

Pete, did the bike run when you swapped the connectors, or is the TPS fried?

It's usually not the tps that gets fired, when you mix those plugs.
The sensor causes a over rich condition and poor running.
What is the bike during?

day late, dollar short.I never noticed a sensor in the tail, but I'll have to look and swap them out just to be safe. How critical is the one in the tail?

Yea Karl, he swapped the connectors by accident.... Its only possable on the 2000 models, they switched the connector after that. Yep, we've all done it

Pete, the one in the tail is the baro sensor. Same part but the bike needs one for the manifold pressure and one for the barometric pressure. I may have a spare map sensor here at the house. I'll bring it down to Bills tonight for ya if I have it still.

No biggie... the end is near.

Y2KZX12R was gracious enough to give me a spare map sensor so both will be replaced for insurance.

ditto.
And the test process for the existing TPS is the same as the set up for the replacement TPS, so why not just put a voltmeter on the existing one and see if you can get the 0-5 v out put and something like 1.086v at idle position.

181hp/106tq The power seems to be dropping off at 10 thou.Dyno operator seems to think a stick coil is going.I have no idea why the power is so low for a big motor.

All my stick coils have high readings on the primary side.I also can't get the tps to go under 1.8vdc and is adjusted all the way to end.
The manual said to check ecu's ground.Where is that? The battery?

If you have a stock fuel pump in your bike you owe me a cold beer, when we meet.
Ps do the map sensor first, you may save yourself some work.

Both map and tps are new.I'm going to try the old tps to see if that matters.I suspect a pinched fuel line is giving me the rich fueling down low.I want to run some injector cleaner thru to see if there is a problem with being clogged from sitting so long.
Sorry NINJA12,I'm running a Muzzy pump.I asked in classified if anyone has extra coils.

So you cant get the TPS voltage down to 1.086vdc ?

You must set 0% and 100% throttle in the power commander AFTER you get the TPS set to 1.086 vdc.

You will need a laptop (or PC close to the bike) to do this Pete. If you dont have a laptop I can set it for you.

I was able to reposition the fuel line by removing the upper mount bolt.I believe this was causing higher fuel pressure at idle and made the plugs all carboned up from being rich.Tps is now set at 1.090 although I still have to zero it out on the usb.I also found a ground wire from the primary battery hooked up to negative on secondary one, don't know what effect that had on any thing but it wasn't right.Alot of the problems were because I get so excited when I see the light at the end of the tunnel that I hurry and make mistakes.I'll ride tonite with the injector cleaner in it.

Was it the return line that was pinched?
