1st time back to the track in over a year!
Tonight was my first time back to the drag strip since my wreck last March 11th (2001); a little more than a year.
One thing for sure is I really need to re-learn everything! I used to be a solid 9.6x rider dammit! Oh well I remember what I should be doing it's just a matter of making myself do it! Anyway it was good to be back out there if nothing else.
Because of the junk Outlaw ProStreet cars on the track that were constantly breaking and requiring track cleanup I was only able to get four runs in 6 hours; best being 9.80 @ 148 w/1.70 60'. Others were depressing 9.9s with slow 1.8 60's. Jeez I can remember when 1.63's were normal for me!
I also had two mechanical problems: nothing major just need to send them back to Muzzys and get them fixed under warranty. First problem was I noticed that the Muzzys/HyperPro steering damper is leaking like the Exxon Valdez so it will have to go back for repair. I didn't know they had that much oil in them!
Second problem was on my last run of the night I finished a burnout and went to arm the Muzzys airshifter and there was no toggle switch! It must fallen out or broken off when I disarmed it earlier in the night. The switch housing was still attached but the toggle lever was gone; and unfortunately it was in the off position: no horn and no airshifter. Damn! Guess I will see if Muzzys can send me out a replacement switch assembly and hopefully I can find a temporary solution to get it operational in the meantime.
Other than those two problems it was a relatively uneventful night. Some dude on a GSXR1000 wanted to line up but we got shuffled out of order in line. Good thing for him since he went 10.90 and I ran 9.80 that round...
Oh yeah- it rained most of the way home. 45 miles in the rain at night with a backpack on and in my leathers; fun.
Damn I love this shit!

4 passes in 6 hrs????? goddamn! Oh well, Berg, think on the positive side, plenty of time for the clutch to cool down eh???
Too bad about the damper and switch, but they are easily fixable, just a pain in the ass.
Keep plugging away at it, you'll chop your times plenty next time. Keep us posted!

Geez, I thougt I had it bad. My feet couldn't take that much waiting. I'm sure it was worth it though. I made the mistake of only spectating last weekend. It was killing me but I didn't bring my leathers. Got home yesterday at 5:30. Raised the forks in the trees, installed the strap, dropped the rear some, adjusted the chain, washed the bike, dresed and made it to the track to race by 7:30(five minutes away). Fun, fun!
