who gives the best head?... (work)
Ok, ladies & gents. i know there is a bunch of info scattered around this and other forums regarding head work for built motors. But, how about lets compile the latest view.
Since my motor currently refuses to blow up, i am building a 2nd motor to satisfy my need to maintain filthy fingernails and bloody knuckles.
It'll be very similar to my current 1427, but doing stuff i didn't get to on the last build, e.g. sizing of rods, piston shaping.
My spare stock head is inreal good shape but is crying for TLC.
Who have you used for drag race-only headwork, and what is yr experience?

Since you are so bored, you can build me a motor too...............
I hear the Carpenter heads are real good. No direct experience though.........

I think Carpenter typically just does a one size fits all head, but I might be wrong.
You may want to talk to him and see if he has something special for a big drag
only monster. Coby also has some hot heads, but he might take a little longer.
The same generic mold may go for him as well. I guess the best think to do would
be to call them and see if they show any signs of interest.
You would think that the people who do head work would be interested in the
volume of your motor, if your TB's have been bored out, specs on cams, ect.
But they just don't seem to be.
Probably just me though since I am a Nobody, ha,ha,ha.

Dude, you know everyone. Bet if ya sent that head to Bob, Rob, or Coby they'd have it to ya
in a snap and it would be like gold!!!!!!!
Don't know what your plans on the new motor might be, but if your thinking of putting
a nice hit of juice some people like a touch bigger exhaust valve. Also some of the
ceramic coats help to keep that head a little cooler.

my plans on the new motor are evolving; am DEEP into email discussion with mountainmotor from SH.org. He is one of those techo guys that seems to have a wealth of experience and doesn't mind sharing it.
We haven't broached the subject of coatings yet.
No matter what the motor ends up looking like, i will eventually spray on top of it

My Carpenter head made very nice power.
However, it now also needs some serious TLC.
I'll make you a good deal on it!

You might want to call Ryan Kallina at SM2W, 904 389 1177, he does innovative head work.

I was looking around the web the other day and found a bizzare site
on high velocity low flow port work. The guy wants ya to join his cult to
give ya his secrets though. Wish I could post the pics, you all might get
a kick, as half the intake port had been filled in.
