New N/A Record at Maxton!

Dave O hammers a couple 220's and has his friend Rick stetson
nail 222mph and change at Maxtons 1 Mile Venue. This is a new
N/A record at Maxton and also a World Record from what I hear.

Guess the Texas Mile and JD7 (1.5 mile venue across the pond in
The Land of Tea and Crumpets) have their work cut out for them.
I should include the salt and dirt boys too, but they are kind of sensitive
and do not like to be grouped with the pavement kids.

For a little perspective, I do believe the fastest Nos bike at Maxton is
223.888mph. That's got to be kind of humbling.

dont see how its humbling....looking at what it took to get a nitrous bike to 223 and what it took to get an na bike to 222...im betting the nos bike was a far cheaper and easier project.

not that either are "less impressive" in the grand scheme of things...but you asked

Nope I don't think the Nos bike was much if any cheaper, But I just heard that Guy
took his Nos bike to 228 and change this last time so I was wrong about the 223.
The humbling part is that one bike puts out about 250HP and the other about
an extra hundred more.

For me all these numbers are humbling as I thought when I first went out
to the Texas Mile a few years back that breaking 200mph wouldn't be a big
thing, but I was wrong.

These numbers are huge compared to just a few years ago also.

Heard a ZX-14 with 24 miles on it and only a change of the front sprocket
went 196+mph for a new production class record.

Hey Entropy and Buddy, don't know if you have been following the maxton stuff,
but Guy put up the 228 on his nos bike and had just put his bike at 72". He said
he did not have any slippage on the top end as people thought he might. I
don't know how short your swingarms will go, but it might be something to
think about. I'll be sending Buddy the swingarm real soon and if you still
need one Entropy just let me know so I can hook up with JC sometime
and pull it off my bike. I don't know if either of you run a 17 tooth up front, if ya did I
have a 41, 42, 43 tooth sprocket you all could use so you would not have
to go through the hassle of putting an 18 on. With that extended rev you have Entropy
I think you would get at least 1.6mph for every 100rpm above redline, but I guess it
also depends on where your power drops off if at all.

Gary,
thx for the info!
don't worry about pulling the arm off yr bike, although I MUCH appreciate the offer. Gerard has one laying around and he'll lend it to me. I am glad for Guy's success, but i'm going short for Oct. As far as gearing is concerned, I'll be using my Marvic which doesn't take OEM sprockets; no problem-o, $50 and i'll have a 43 or 44.

About yr motor???? Is JC working on it??

I taked with John Noonan yesterday and it is likely that he'll be at the TX mile in Oct with one o' his 250mph creations. Woo-hoo!

Now, if we could just get Dave Owens to make an appearance...

I forgot about your wheels and the sprockets being different. Them rims sure are nice.

It's been a week and a half since I dropped the bearings and a few other last things off
at JC's place. I think he said he was going to be working a lot for the following couple of
weeks and then would be changing job sites where he would have more time to work
on the bike. Heard Ralf is thinking about a 14.

That would be awsome to have Noonan come down in October and lay down some big
numbers.

Would be neat to have Dave O and that Monster machine pop in. My Brother has one of Dave's old heads that he ran on the street currently on his bike.

How did graduation go for the family?

Yep, all pieces.

Glad to hear you had fun. A couple more for ya or was that the last one?

Can't for the San Antonio ShootOut, JC said he would probably make it
to spectate.

We'll see how this goes, but I am seeing a local guy today about a motor with a bad rod bearing. If the cases look good and the crank isn't too torn up, its a go!!

Osti: where ya been, Bud??? You back on the track??

Gary, you are ALWAYS welcome inat my house, I'll keep you posted!

I have no real good excuse other than I have been totally swamped at work. Should be slowing down a little very soon and I should have more time to hang out here.

Went to the track last weekend for the first time all year. It was good to get back on the bike. My numbers weren't great but the bike ran well. It is making great power!

DWB and myself are heading to the track this weekend as well.

HOw's your machine running?

Mine was from 149 to 151 in crappy air. I think it has a little more in it.

I'm still hanging on to some winter fat as well. I'm about 10 pounds heavier than last year. I'm up to about 215-218 in shorts.

I've been hitting the Team Fat Ass staples of Popeyes and beer a little to hard.
