One Mile Race in Texas

Anybody going to make the Texas Mile in Goliad?

TEXAS MILE FLYERS
Current record for a ZX-12 is around 196mph someone has to come out and stomp that retard.
Current record for a N/A is a Busa at 201mph, I think. Entropy should have that one soon.
Current record for nos is another Busa at 203mph I believe. I would like to have that one soon.
Current record for turbo is yet another Busa at around 250mph. Good luck with that one!

You are an old hand at the Mile. Maybe you can give me some info. I believe the bike has to have a steering stabalizer. Is that correct. Also, what gearing will you use. Is the 18-47 ok?
What kind of tires are good for this event. Is a MT street slick and the stock front tire oK.

I don't have a stabalizer, so if it's required, the rest is moot. I guess these questions are kind of basic. I am fairly well versed on drag racing, but am just picking up interest in the mile.

That race is next weekend, isn't it?

Yes on the stabilizer, I also have one you can borrow. It's over at JC's along with everything else. I think he has a few Busa ones hanging around that you could just slap on.

Not much secret to running the Mile, just hit it like at the drags and don't let off till ya pass the one Mile marker.

Your gearing might only get you to the 190's though. I would recommend at least a 44 or 43, especially with that screaming Coby motor ya got. I do believe Entropy might have a chain and I have a 43 and 42 sproket I can lend ya. I also have a stock swingarm and chain set for a 42 tooth that you can use if you wanted to go that way. If you are interested just give JC a call and you could have that done on your way down to the Mile. If you want to do that call me at work (512) 457-1292.

TexasMile.com is their website for rules and regs, but if your running your bike at the drags then you are already set. Their pretty easy going.

Any thoughts on running your turbo 12 at the Mile?

Buddy, You could just pull my rear tire, rim, 42 tooth sprocket, chain off and just use that so ya wouldn't mess up your Mickey Tire. Not too many people run them there.

It is this weekend March 25th and 26th, unlimited runs! I think some people have gotten about 20 runs in.

I'll be swinging a leg over my brother's Busa, he has a little 100 shot on it that should pull some of us fatties close to 200mph.

It's a lot of fun and we need some fast 12's there. If not this march maybe October with Entropy.

Hope the track at Eddyville has been good to ya. Too bad the TexasShootOut and the Texas Mile are not on the same weekend for ya. Then it might be worth it for ya to run the ShootOut on Sat. and the Mile on Sun. I do believe there should be a nice showing of 12's in October. I think Entropy is planning on it with a few of his 12 friends, Buddy will probably get hooked and my bike should be well broke in.

We might be able to take fastest N/A and Nos away from them Busa Boys.

Yep, on the chain! Thank you much. It'll be good for them extensions to put me at 64"
if the HH class makes it. I hope I can run at least a 10.0 I was thinking 17/46 for the
drags as I already had these sprockets.

Osti33 it'll be good having ya there, thats a long drive for ya.

We Sure need some 12's to break 200mph, right now all the 200mph bikes
are Busas.

Yep. A really long drive. That's ok. I don't mind driving. I sure hope to hit that 200mph mark. *fingers crossed*

Already made my reservation at hotel Entropy.

17/50!!!!! I don't think I could keep the front down. I'll have to let you set my
suspension up for those drags cause I am clueless.

I have a friend whose son drives their bike. It is 64" and they run a 17 55. He consistently cuts a 1.38-1.42 60'. They very seldom ever replace a clutch plate.

We run a lot of 1/8 here during the winter. He will have to change a little for the 1/4. He handles the clutch so well, tho, I don't think his 60' time will change much.

I'm off to Goliad, hoping to put a Kawasaki on the books amongst all the Busas.
