rear shorter shock (real low)

ok..so I need to bite the bullet and get a new shock with some adequate spring rate and dampening if I ever hope to get this thing to hook up off the line.

what are some of you real low guys using? i dont wanna drop a grand only to find out the shock is the same length as the stocker.

I currently have a fox shock with the stock 12R spring mounted on it...its about 1" shorter than the stocker in overall length...but the shock just was not designed for this much weight and its killin me.

what do you use on that big mamma jamma 12 of yours doug? anyone else low enough to have gone this route?

I have a Penski but I do not think it is shorter, but it works great for me! I had the same 60' with a stock motor and the Penski, as I had with my Big motor and a stock shock...

I have a Penski which is 1" shorter than stock. It allows me to put the Coby pan 2" off the track, and i don't wanna go any lower than that.

Calling Brock (or Doug Ray at Spencer) is a great idea.

Thanks.

Ry,
I got my Penske thru Orient Express (800 645 6521) 4 years ago, Steve Ionescu really helped me out; don't know if he still works there. It's 1" shorter than stock and has a spring which they spec-ed based on my weight and the 6" arm I had then. I got the one with remote reservoir, but if I had to do it again i'd get the attached reservoir. One less thing to find someplace to mount.

With that said, if I were you I'd look for a Hyperpro, VERY cool purple spring!!!

No need to air out what happened with me and Orient here. I'll tell you next time I talk to you on the phone. Sufice (sp) to say I won't be buying anything from them anytime soon.

I ordered the shock from Ed Krawiec of EK Racing out in New Jersey. Great guy to deal with. He spent a half an hour on the phone with me answering all of the questions I could throw at him. I would buy from him again in a heartbeat!
