This is what Jay at APE told me.
"The goal is about 1/4" of slack in the chain between the intake and
exhaust cams."
I personally run the stocker so I have no real input other than that.

Karl, I turn the engine Clockwise and with my fingers I turn in the tensioner until it is "SNUG" (as in not as hard as i can turn it by hand, but I feel resistance). I stop right there and and turn the engine a few more times and while turning the engine I check to see if the tensioner is still snug and then tighten the Lock nut
I check it from time to time. The #1 advantage over the Auto Adjustor is the notches in the Auto tensioner sometimes falls in between the notches and leaves the chain loose. The #2 advantage is it cannot back out

I went back to the OEM. Unlike the busa's, we never had a bad design.

Bear Racing had one back out at Gainesville and will never use one again. It made me go to the manual. For street riding, Stock. For racing only Manual

well, when I looked closely, my OEM had a broken pin (pivot for that ratchet thing), so i'm staying with the manual for now. Thx on the tip on how to adjust it.
