Buddy - gearing
Buddy,
great to hear about yr 8.73; too damn bad yr gearing put you into the limiter and you had to back off. Yr bike is rolling!!!!!!!
anyway my calculator says:
- with fresh MCR2 (76.5" circumference)
- 6th gear @11,600rpm
16/50 = 163
17/50 = 173
18/50 = 183

The event was King of the Track at RRR in Shreveport. The track was a little slick, but I managed a 1.54 60', 5.72 1/8 at 134+, and 8.73 at the 1/4. The progressive box was set for 20% initial and 60% final with a 1/4 second delay of activation after WOT due to low traction and bad spinning if applied any earlier.

I dunno how your burnouts look, but if they the same as you were doing at kennedale, thats your problem. You need to heat your tire. I watched you spin it and not even clean the water off it. You shouldnt be spinning with a slick, period.

134mph in the 1/8th is really moving, great power Buddy. What was your 1/4 mph?
I don't have any experience with slicks, but what pressure are you running? I know folks go down pretty low, 6-7 psi. Gets a little sketchy at the big end I bet though.

I wasn't useing a flat slick, I had changed to a MT shootout tire to conform to the rules of the King of the Track. Everyone was having traction problems due to a heavy rain the day before caused the auto race to be cancelled. Therefore there was very little rubber down and the track people worked hard to make the track stick, but there was very little they could do.
As far as the burnouts, Kawachan pointed out to me the same problem at RRR and I corrected it. It helped.

My 1/4 mile mph was only 148 as I had left my 1/8 mile gearing in and ran out of gear about 150' before the end. I had to let off rather than banging the limiter with nitrous.
I have had many problems trying to run the nitrous. I found the last one a day or 2 before RRR. I had never had a full run on nitrous, so didn't know how gear hungry nitrous makes a 12R. I know now, tho, so will not make that mistake next time.

Wow, that would have been a mid 8.60 then. With the right gearing and 100% spray I guess you'll be in the 40s if not quicker. Congrats.

1270 with a 4.6 that is a nice combo. I have heard of someone running a 8.85 on motor with that combo with a 1.41 60ft.

My 1427 broke a rod at Rusk last year. It destroyed every thing in the motor except the head, the crank and a couple of transmission gears.
I don't know much about the internals of motors. The builder said the motor he had available was a 1259. When I bought the motor, he put my old crank in it and put nitrous pistons also.
The nitrous system is wet and at 100% would be about 100 hp.
