OK, This Sucks...

I debated whether to post this, but I figure he'll probably appreciate everyone's thoughts. Kevin Cadby went down test riding a customer bike. Ryan from SMTW told me he is doing OK but rashed up some. Please give Kevin your get well wishes here, I know he has a lot of friends on this site.

Think about being extra careful next time you throw a leg over a bike... If it can happen to a rider as good and with as many years' experience as Kevin, it can happen to ANYBODY.

Thanks for posting, I couldn't bring myself to do it. I haven't talked to him, but I'm gonna venture a guess that he won't be making it to the grudge race, which sucks. I heard from June at SMTW that he broke his thumb. Tough to ride with a broken thumb. I don't know nay specifics of the get-off, but he didn't lose consciousness, and was walking and talking, so I'm hoping he'll be better very soon.

Thank you VERY much folks!!!
I HURRRRRRT!!! But I'm in "good shape"...consider...

Qoute from my mail to Dean...
Got into a wicked tank slapper on a customers ZX12 after mapping it when I shifted 2nd gear...
Didn't recover...got tossed off at about 45mph...
After spending several hours in ER (mostly waiting)...
NO brocken bones...LOTs of "skin removal" ...
Small Crack on side of left wrist, right Thumb dislocated at knukle (not hand), Small crack on left shoulder that he said "looks old" LOL...
DOESN'T FEEEEEEL OLD!!!!!!
Anyway...
They released me after midnight last night...
HENRY (Ryan"s dad) stayed with me the ENTIRE time (wrecked at about lunch-time)...
I wanted to go HOME but henry n ryan said no way after the nurse told them the "extra pill" she gave me was...
MORPHINE
This was after the 2 (I think???) doses I got through the IV drippp...
Helmet is TOAST...or I probly wouldn't be the one telling you all this
From left shoulder down to waist... both back and front
(nipple incuded) HURT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Left arm...mostly back side DITO...
Right ForeArm...backSLIDE also, right palm has the deepest wounds but doesnt hurt "that bad"...
UMMM??? both knees...not bad...just above left ankle another 2X4" ouweee...
SO!?!?!? Looks like I started my vacation "early"???
Bike is like John's... all right-side-slide-damage only
HelliBar included...
Pretty Obvious that I won't be ready to RACE by next weekend ...
After doing my 1st "bath" today at 3:30 to 5PM...OUWWWWWWCH!!!
It became obvious to me that I will be staying here at Henry/Charlotte/Ryan's probably through the weekend...
Couldn't apply not ONE bandage myself...LOL>>>OUCH
The Kallina's are AWSOME PEOPLE for sure...
Enough one-hand typing for now???
I'll be fine...cosidering...

Thank's again!!!
LATER...

Dude! Sorry to hear about your accident. I'm just glad you made it with "minor" injuries. All considering, road rash is probably the most painful but at least not life threatening. Thank God you wore a helmet. I won't give you any shit about the t-shirt and shorts deal because we've all done it at one point or another.

I'm guessing that customer's 12R didn't have a steering damper? Did the bike survive and how did the customer handle it when they broke the news? Most importantly you're ok, that's all that matters, that's what insurance is for. Hell you probably did him a favor now he can upgrade!

Make sure you stay on top of that road rash with bandage changes and ointments and stuff; it takes forever to heal and unfortunately gets more painful as days pass, by about 4 days it will peak and two weeks you'll be comfortable enough to try to get some sleep. Until then, man good luck. I know it sucks, been there, done that.

Travelling all the way to MD would be a bitch in that condition, I wouldn't do it if I were you, not even to spectate. Don't sweat not making the event, just rest up and heal up as best you can.

Get well soon.

True - I love em!!!
(Just not on me)

Good to hear you are being taken care of.
- and that you still have all your parts - except for maybe a nipple, and men don't really need those anyways.

Thank's again everyone...
Felt pretty bad this morning but the bath actually went much better than yesterdays
It's the AFTER bath that REALY sucks...
I feel like I went over a hump today and will improve relatively quickly from here

As for the "dress for the crash"...I have never agreed with that (accept for HELMET) because
1: It is ungodly hot here in Fl. and I would honestly rather NOT RIDE than sweat my ass off...
2: I never "push the limits" on the street...
"knee-dragging" IMHO is what causes injury much MUCH more often...ESPECIALLY ON THE STREET where you have no idea what is around OR ON the next corner...
I fell down one time many years ago riding to work the same way I always did and actually did a 180 at an intersection that I turned at HUNDREDS of times because there was oil-or-antifreeze there...
WASN'T pushing it then either!!!
I just don't trust the roads enough to take any chances...
Anyone can/will beat me cornering because I will simply "let you go"
I don't like getting hurt...
THAT being said...ha ha...
I HURT right now because I was on a bike that IMO has NO bussisness being sold to the general public without a Steering Damper...
I am used to riding these bikes (12s) with extended swingarms which GREATLY reduces the chance of doing what this bike did to me...
I will from now-on ALWAYS where "more" on test rides
At 49-years old I can say that until this??? I have NEVER "hurt a customers bike"...

The owner took it well considering...
17,000-miles and this bike was very VERY clean...
I will be paying for there repairs...in more ways than one...

Thank's again for the well-wishes
They are GREATLY appreciated

I once again can't say enough good words about the Kallinas (owners of SM2W) who have literally taken me into theyre home in this time of need...

DEFINETILY improving
As stated above...I feel that I went over "one of the humps" yesterday
I actually put a shirt on all by myself today!?!?!?
UNreal how you just don't what you have until you don't have it...LOL...Aaaweee...

Legendary???
"Above Average" would be MUCH more accurate IMO

Making it to MIR doesn't look "smart" at this point
Wanting VERY much to meet ALL of these people also
I'd fly up if nothing else but I can't afford it...specialy after this new expense that I have incurred...
