optimal chain length?
Hello, ive got a bike that runs high 9's@140-142 1.58-1.64 60ft's. What is the ideal length of a stretched bike for this application? 3-4 inch's or 6inch's?
I currently run a 16-48 gear and run it thru 4th. I live at a mile high track and weigh 230 lb's in leathers. I was thinking of running thru 5th with a 16-51 combo. How much will it shorten my chain length?
I'm adding the new chain as of this writing and wondering how many inch's i should set up the bike with 16-48 and in a few weeks the 51 spocket will arrive. thanks for any help!!

I used a Tsubaki chain and it only stretched about 1/2"

You'll need at least 140 link chain for upto 63" and a 51 tooth rear.

yep I think mine at 6" over was 144link that was with 17/51

Damn Mike, 17-51 = 7 1/2 teeth up...I guess your using all 6 gears!!!

Can't speak for Mike. On my bike 17-51 gearing puts me through the lights at redline in 5th on motor and redline in 6th with a 40 shot.

osti, how long is your 12?
I have a 16-47 @ 60" and cross finish line redline 5th also....
