I went to the local car upholsterer...I went with the bike and extra seat of course, told him what I wanted and we measured it out together with me sitting on the bike and when he added padding put it back on the bike and sat on it, making sure it was right...
I think most of them will do that with you because i doubt if they have ever done it before!!!...He charged me $ 150.00 with new cover...

I had a guy here in town I had put a few radios in for that owned an upholstery shop. I took him a pic of a step seat and my seat off of my bike. Rode back to town and got something to eat (on the gas tank), then rode back out and it was ready. $25........What a bargain. Stock cover stiff fits. He even put some super-soft foam in it so I use it every day for riding.

Oh yeah...don't try no seat at the drag strip...it is too slippery. Even with some of that skateboard sandpaper on the tank!!

a simple way to do it is take off the cover, take the foam off completely in the front, leave foam in the back for the step, then restaple the cover back on.
cost = 0 (if you have a good stapler)
buy a Corbin for the road.

That is exactly what I did, but I am looking at a composit seat right now, I might buy?

I got the fiberglass 12R seat. Exactly like the carbon one pictured, but finished just like the GSXR seat in the picture. Had to drill the mounting holes and trim a little on the back so that it didn't scrape the rear fairing. Works great, looks pretty good too.

the only thing bad about them is they rape ya on shipping to the east coast. they wanted way to much to ship a tail section. There prices seem low till they add that.

There is a guy on the forum at www.suzukihayabusa.org that does excellent work, search the threads there. IIRC his prices are reasonable (under $100) and his references are good. You can find pics of his Busa seat mods on that forum, and he also does 12R and 1000 seats.

I ordered the glass seat today from www.catalystracingcomposites.com
it is $80.00 plus $12.00 shipping to Washington, DC
That's not a bad price for shipping.

They wanted 125.00 to ship a tail section. I agree thats not too bad. They also wanted extra cause the piece wasnt made. Now i know there are several people here who have a business. Yall charge extra cause its gonna have to be made??

When I called Catalyst to order my seat, all they said was give it about 2 weeks because they had to make it. No mention of it costing more to ship or to have it made.
