dragg,
I use VP C-44 on the advice of the VP guys in San Antonio.

no idea what hp gain is, as i don't run my motor on pump gas cause the CR is too high.

I map often

MR9 is only 87 octane. Why not use MR1 or MR8? I've run half VP-110 and half pump gas(91) and it ran great.

Oxygenated fuel = hp: typically 3-5%

hi octane = detonation protection, NO extra hp

kinda simple

BUT, watch out, i toasted a motor running oxy fuel with hi-ish cr; that's a no-no. Bad ju-ju, fo sho!

Karl, I was told that the MR9 is fine for a stock motor 12 or Busa...Was the CR more than stock???

CR,
yep, 14.4:1 at that point. I was using Nutec. it worked great at stock CR, and even worked at elevated CR (didn't measure it) with 1361 at 1/4 mi, but the mile is not forgiving.

We've been on 97 octane pump fuel (R+M/2) until now on 13.5:1 CR but will be spraying next year on 13:1 and using 76 brand 118 which is very expensive here but cheaper than an engine rebuild!

I think you're all wasting your money on specialty fuels. Then again this is the same group that needs air shifters LOL

Hey Berg, The MR9 works real good for me...Believe it or not it made the 60' smoother and made it somewhat easier to handle the 57" wheelbase...

I know it seems like it dont make sence but it gave me more HP and caused me to wheelie...But with the extra HP, I dont have to leave at such a high RPM and allowing me to get the throttle/clutch open asap!!!

Oh I believe the fuel helps as I've seen it work on the dyno before and after, but I still think its a waste of money unless you're going to a dyno shootout.

+5 hp isn't going to make or break your race. $80 for 5 gallons of fuel doesn't make sense. The next size up nitrous jet costs about $2, and will give you a lot more than 5hp, and you only need to spend $2 once.

I guess if I had an unlimited racing budget, I would buy racing fuels, but for me $80 for oxygenated fuel is plain retarded.

ohhhhhh, someone pissed in Bergie's Wheaties today, eh?

I don't agree. nope. not if you are looking to improve yer personal best.

sure, juice is a good quick cheap hp adder, but not everyone is spraying.

3-5% = 6-10hp increase fer yer typical built motor w/oxy fuel.
$1500 on cams & tuning won't give you that much.
$2500 on cams, porting, stacks & tuning MAY give that much, MAY...

6-10hp = 1.5 - 2.5 mph in 1/4 mi

just my .02

Its nice fuel for those that wanna spout off the "no motor work" or "all motor" or "no nitrous" etc etc comments.

Dont think anyone argued that it wasnt good stuff...but as far as cost/gain ratio is concerned...far better choices out there

I've seen too many detted turbo engines on low octane. Not making that mistake again with our nitrous motor!

mr9 is the best fuel out there right now and i seen plain and simple gains of 2-3mph just by dumping it in. It works!! Its not gonna give the increase like a power adder such as NOS or turbo, but it will be noticeable.

Rac4it--that green zx12 u have doesn't have an airshifter?
