Suspension question
hey guys i have a 01 gsxr 1000 blah blah blah. they have an over braced swing arm. I think my bracing is hitting my sub frame when i launch my bike real hard. I cant get below a 1.60 60 Because when i try and launch harder i just wheelie. Is this a problem if so ill take it off. let me know what ya think. I have seen several real fast bikes with them and without. I had a previous post about lauching yall said to just dump it. Or get out of the clutch quicker. So what tha hell i went for it last track day of the year. Bike didnt move forward at all just came straight up. Tried several differnt ways had to revert back to mine. give me some ideas for the offseason. Thanks

Can you have anyone watch or video you while launching?
What kinda over bracing do you have that hits the subframe?
Is the front lowered at all?

busas have the same peoblem when lowered enough. put grease on the brace and launch it a few times if you get grease on the sub frame you know the answer. some companys remove the box of the stock swingarm.

Turn the spring adjuster clockwise at least 2-3 times, if you weigh over 180 then 4 times...
The Busas have the same problem...The fix is to get a Gixxer600 arm or a track dynamics arm!!!

yes its hitting for sure. Also do yall use real heavy springs. I thought i was till today. I called Race tech about the one i purchased. It was only 500lb spring i think i need way more than that. I have a lot of rear squat. Prob why the tire hooked so well. I finally think i have found my problem. The wheelbase is stock plus 8 and half inch. whatever that would be.

A 180lbs crotch try doubling that figure and you would be close. I believe they use the same arm they just weld the over brace on it. So im gonna grind it off. And take a look see. Also gonna get me about a 1000lb spring.

1000lb spring?? that may be too much. Try consulting a suspension guy first.

WHY IS EVERYONE so down on the grand motor. I personally like taking down a buss or a 12. with it and it has happened. There are three 12 at my local track i love to line up against them.

Its not that everyone is down on the Gixxer1000s or ZX10s, its just that those bikes are not intended or made to beat the Busa or ZX12...Thats the way the manufactuers made it...Sure, they kick ass, but if you want a strong / fast bike then you need the big bikes!!!
As the frase goes, there is no replacement for displacement!!!

Have fun draggsxr1000; the rest is just opinions...go with your own. None of the bikes mentioned were initially engineered for the strip.
ZX-10R has done 8.90's with a profesional rider...whatever challenges you and what you aim at is your money and your buisiness. Just my 2 cents...
It's a tuff crowd here lol.... the technical info can be good!!
Happy Holidays!

I love the zx10 and the new suk 1000 is going to be a killer too. But the bike is made for a 145 lbs rider not 200+ That does not mean you can't have fun on it, but it will be just harder to get it down the track do to the lower TQ.
