I run a stock bike and the wheel base is stock (Pingle wheelie bars). As far as the exhaust goes, stock without the cat and muffler. You will notice a big difference in the bike with out the muffer. My 60' times are in the low 1.40 avg, best 60 I have had to date is a 1.37.
Ra12r asked why you didn't buy a pipe?? Don't buy one till you do motor mods. We put a sidewinder pipe on my friends Busa with little gain. If you do go with NOS or a big motor then I would look at buying a pipe. Use the money for ceramic wheel bearings there $400. for full set that will make a bigger difference than the pipe. What airshifter are you using?? I use a MPS autoshift with a MSD chip shifting a 11,600. With every thing that you have, add that and you will be hard to beat. Then get out and practice ever chance you get...
Do you use the tach or a shift light for your shifts??? If you use the tach rev it till it hits the rev limiter and see what it is. Mine hits it at 12,000 but if I use a 11,800 chip it hit the rev limiter befor it makes the shift. ie the tach is not always right...

Dr. Joe.... I'm also MPS auto shifting. Had a 11,600 chip and it seemed to go on the rev limit before shifting into 1st, so I put in the 11,400 chip.
I've got the FactoryPro 6th gear timing de-restricter on the way and will see what that does for the top end..... Then I'll give the muffler a try.... So you removed the muffler and cat and run just a open pipe ??? I've got Boca Bearing right around the corner... I think I get a discount through my work. Finally got my license last week so test and tune Wed night should be hassle fee.... practice practice Thanks, Roy

The only other thing you need is the little yellow box to fix the speed limiter and you will be good. How do you like the NLR 2-step?? I have one on order and plan to put it on the winter. That's why you can leave at 6700 and I have to leave at 8000. And yes I plan on buying a little yellow box also. I know that I can get a little more out of my bike.. Have you bought a powercommander for your bike?? I put one on this year and had the bike dynoed at ECS in Phoenix, went from 163bhp to 171bhp.. Not bad for an all stock bike...
Your on the right track, now all you have to do is practice your tires off..

The unit I'm getting from FactoryPro is called the "teka-fire" and I guess it's the same thing as a yellow box.
The NLR 2-step is good stuff.... If you have a wiring diagram it's easy to hook up. The only other thing I needed with it was a clutch lever with an adjustable switch.... It's run off that switch and with the stock one it came off the 2-step too quick and blew the tire away.... But the new switch cured that... adjusted so as the clutch is engaged before the 2-step deactivates. The other thing I noted after I installed the new lever is that my reaction times went way down (actually too fast) need to mess with that switch stop a little. I'm going to do some shopping at the Prostars this weekend and see if anyone makes a clutch lever switch that's a little easier to adjust (something with a set screw)
Still no power commander. gonna do a base line first and take it from there.

If you are looking for a good pipe I have a step Hindle for sell. It has 2 small flat spots in the tube because of wheeling but the pipe still works great. Ran 159 mph with a stock motor on spray. $425.00 and its yours.

Well I just got back from the track...... And sure as shit I'm on the speed limiter coming through the traps !! I NEVER look at my speedometer but made a conscious effort to look at it tonight...... at about a 100 feet before the line I watched it go to a needle width over the 185 mark and sit there.... guess it's time for a "b-box"
P.S. don't buy the "teka-fire" timing de-restricter from factory-pro it doesn't work on the ZX-12 ?? even though they advertise it WILL work....Dumb-asses never even checked to see if the thing would even wire in ?? Though it sounded too good to be true.
Anyhoo I let you guys know how much speed is picked up and hopefully a drop in E.T. after the "b-box" is installed.
