Doug,
what happened is a plugged oil pick up screen, and all the joy that goes with it.
I was using the LM-1 to do set up experiments with my 2 stage lockup and running very low static spring pressure (4 OEM springs) to see if I could get rpm up 10-11,000 right out of the hole. I did do that, and I did pin the throttle pretty much right off the line.
what could go wrong, right? a few toasted clutch plates? no biggie?
But the brand new fibers apparently shedded enough gunk to plug the screen...
Oh well, another lesson learned the hard way.
I used to be able to say that I never roasted a #2 rod bearing; can't say that now.

well that sucks ass...that had to be a HELLUVA lotta clutch material to gunk it up that quickly. Ive burned through a ton of clutches..and while there was a good amount of sludge in the pan when it was removed...the screen wasnt terribly clogged. Sorry to hear it Ent

osti,
crank gets back today, and head mid next week, but chances are slim it'll be ready for the shootout, so I will be an umbrella guy for you & MM. I talked to MM today and heard you guys are gonna be having Bud Lites at my house; see you then
YCIS,
I'm not THAT pissed off because I wanted a look inside the motor anyway.
It does seem strange to plug it up that quick, but I have been doing regular oil analyses and was not getting any bearing material. The screen was certainly plugged, tho. Go figure.

not really sure as i open the clutch after every time to the track and replace anything that looks even slightly suspect. Maybe 3-4 sets of fibers.

OEM's
I was replacing more often than usual to keep the clutch acting consistently for the lockup tuning. Prolly should have let em stay in a bit longer. That initial bed-in of the fibers maybe shed the excess of fiber.

Sounds like a plan. Hope you get your bike back together. I can't wait to get down there and do some racing and have some Bud Lites.

I'm not sure exactly what time we are going to arrive. We are making a stop at Johnny Cheese's shop first before going on to your house. I don't know what time he set that up for...You might want to ping Mike or give him a call to find out.
