max power on big bore
I was just talking to the builder who is installing my big bore kit.He said he talked with SBM and said my power will probably max out at 9000 rpm's.This is not a stroker and haven't heard of any comment about the 1270 or 1290 kits lowering the power band.On the bright side,I was told it would be good for me because of my size. Why is this?

AA
go to Lee's site and look at the curves for his motors, certainly NONE of them "max out" at 9000.
Even my string of strokers (1361, 1375, 1427) ALL built hp right to the limiter and strokers are supposed to ut the pwr down low.
Are using the stock exhaust?? (i kinda doubt it)

I have a Ti-Force pipe on it and mentioned the recommended cam degrees of 105/100 but whatever works with the pipe and 4 over pistons is fine with me.I just went over to Lee's site and I think I see what he's talking about. All of Lee's charts top out at 10,000 but hold the hp to redline.I'm having Freddie at ECP do the work and I have alot of confidence in their work.He talked with superbike Mike and says I should be in the mid 190's.

Having said that, would you guys tune a bike any different for a 6'6" 270lb guy than you would for someone at 5'8"and 150lbs?I didn't know if maybe you would tune it for a little more torque on TFA as opposed to a feather weight.

I have done 1427 and made 192 with pump gas and stock cams. (but it did have 100# of torque @ 4K)
the key is the comp ratio and cam specs. Frddie knows what he is doing but without cams and some special fuel it won't be high but it will make ponies above 9K

AA, I wouldn't set the cams at 105/100 I would at least set them at 105/105 or even more retarded. With a 1320 only, your HP will be under 200hp so don't trip out, but your Torque will increase pretty good. Since you are wondering about your weight, I would also go to a 16t front. That combo does well across the board. People ask about top end reduction, and I tell them that I will pull away on a roll-on so far and be at 170 so fast that you will never catch me for it to be noticed. You will have plenty of torque and will be able to do rollin burnouts with NO problem!! Have fun!!!!

Ra12r-thanks for the tip on 105/105,I'll be sure to pass it on.I currently have 17/48 sprockets on a stock wheelbase and am curious as to if it will stay planted enough. The question about tuning for a riders weight was mine and had nothing to do with how Freddie was setting it up.Just trying to learn.By the way, they found the connector from the alternator fried and melted,is this common?

Rode the 1320 today and didn't really notice it on the street at legal speed.I opened it up once in 2nd and it started lifting strong at 10500,shifted to 3rd and it picked up immediately. This is with the rear lowered all the way.I think it will be fun when I launch.HP at 175-180

There was a recall on the bike because of this exact problem. Oil wicks up the alternator cable and fills up the connector and fries things. If you get enough back there, it will kill your alternator's ability to charge the battery, and your battery will die almost every time you go out.
Take the bike to any dealer, and they should fix it for free. It's an official NTSB recall after all.
