LM-1 AF/data logger - part deux

woo-hoo!!!
My TPS signal was "buzzy", so i went looking for a better ground (like the manual says to do: RTFM, one more time)

I ditched my frame ground, and took the br/bk (#60)ground from the ECU and now the TPS & RPM signals look fukken perfect.

man this thing is COOL!

Now I know that it takes .21sec to rev from 4050rpm to 11,400rpm when you twist fast from 4.5% to 98.3% throttle position.

Now, THAT'S some useful data, eh???

Best toy in my garage

Also, looking at the Kwak schematic, it seems all the temp & pressure sensors use the same ground, so I imagine hooking up some more stuff should be as easy as pie.

yep; thx for being so patient with my questions. You pointed me in the right direction.

I didn't need to screw with the table, but the soln was as easy as RTFM.

When setting up the rpm module, let the software set the rpm table by holding the rpm steady at 4000 rpm rather than 2000 (using the set up SW); then when recording/playing back the data, simply check the box on the rpm option which doubles the rpm range.

bottom line is i have rpm which reads correctly, e.g 8000rpm reads as 8000 rpm and the range is 0 to 20,460, so no clipping at 10,230.

Man o' man this thing is SOOOOOOOOO EASY, once you get just a bit familiar with it. very simple to use.

leaded race gas compatibility

How does leaded race gas affect the O2 sensor, or wideband sensor?

it will cut the lifespan down a bit......but this is the same with ANY o2 sensor. Good news if the sensor goes bad...they are only $59.00 and available from an autoparts store.

i'm using gas w/7gm/gal lead and the manual says i will shorten the life of the sensor to 50?? hrs.

bahahahahahaha... LOL
in 50 hrs of run time i 'll go thru so many motors, the least of my worries are wideband sensors.

Even for folks who wanna use this on the street; how much leaded gas are you gonna put thru it???

I'm thinking of using the O2 sensor on a 10R in a road race car, and so with two hours average track time, it will last more than two years. 50 hours is no problem.

10rmotor,
i just checked the manual and it said lead will damage the O2 sensor after somewhere between 50 and 500 hrs of operation so i guess we are both covered.

ninja12, no pix; my kids keep gleeping my digital cameras.

The bax fit very well on the ram air cover, AND you can easily get at the on-off switch and record button.

If I run into someone at the track tonight w/a digicam, i'll see if i can get some pix.

Good luck on the install, VERY easy.

Done Deal,
VERY EASY TO INSTALL.
1. get bung installed in pipe (that's the hard part)
2. cut power cord connect red wire to pos, black to neg at the battery.
3. power on lm-1 and hit calibrate button.
4. install o2 sensor in pipe.
DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TPS/RPM option
1. ground................... brown/black wire @ cpu
2. RPM ......................black/orange wire @ cpu
3. TPS..........................center wire of TPS @ TPS
(anyone know which wire is tps @ cpu)

Follow instruction in software to setup rpm module.

ninja12,

COOL!!! You are making progress!

TPS output voltage is ECU pin #42, yellow/white; standing behind the bike looking down at the ECU its the left ecu plug; lowest row of wires, 2nd one in from the left.

All this information with just 5 wires, 2 to the battery and 3 to the ECU.

Hint ...you CAN'T use the tach signal for RPM,
and you can't run the setup and monitor program at the same time.

Thanks again Karl,

Like kevin cadby said you'll be suprise at how much time you spend at
5% throttle or less!
