Racing boots

What kind of boots do you guys wear on a footshifted bike? I was considering a typical roadrace type boot but thought it may make shifting more difficult...thanks

Probably the best thing you can do for foot shifting is a GP pattern.

On a Zx12 you can do it with a few washers. Makes preloading and getting to the shifter much easier!

First of all, are you having problems with shifting with your roadrace boots? I ran a gazillion passes with my Sidi Vertebra boots. I never had a problem shifting. I only switched boots because I wanted to look more like a dragracer with my boots inside my leathers. Plus the toes on my Sidi Vertebras started to wear out.

I totally wanted a pair of Bates drag boots:

Until I tried them on, and there was next to no protection. I felt like I was practically barefoot.

Then Shawn Gann recommended the pimp Oakley shoes that he wears. They were sweet looking and felt great. Then, I saw the pricetag. $250??

So, I just got smart and decided that I didn't want to change the feel of my Sidi boots. So, I just went with the Sidi drag boots. I don't regret it at all. They feel just like my Sidi Vertebra boots except that the toe protection is on the inside where I actually drag them on the launch.

I use Sidi vertebra too, I'm not bothered about "looking" like a drag racer, but it would be nice to have the toe sliders on the inside like you say as I'm a foot dragger!

I have a pair of the Sidi Drag boots like in the pictire above. There are great there lite and comfortable to wear around the pits. Also quick to get on and off. They run about a 1/2 to 1 size big. I ordered a size 11.5 and they feel like 12, So order 1/2 size smaller than your shoe size. JMOP

And the sliders do work and very well.

I also have the Sidi Drag boots. I wouldn't trade mine for any other shoes out there. They are very light and comfortable. A great product IMHO.
