Pro wheelbase distribution
I was just looking at the Dragbike.com pic of the week, and noticed how much farther back the Slowe Busa's rear wheel sits relative to Flood's Busa. I'm sure the Orient Express team is not giving up any wheelbase, so how is Velocity cramming the front wheel in so tight? Same thing on the Velocity SBS bike - it looks like the fork is cut, or maybe the rake is reduced?

Im having some of those triple clamps cut as we speak. De-raking a bike is illegal, but nothing is stated about the location of the fork tubes within the triple clamps. They use a 16inch front wheel also for clearance. On the honda, and the busas.

I thought de-raking was illegal - the triple clamp thing clears it up. That's why it looks so squashed. Very clever.

1. there is no 2" rule in SBS
2. Velocity pushes the front wheel WAY back to the point they have to clearance the weight they add to the bike. Slowe's busa barely turns, the turning radius is rediculous he has to 3 point it all the time in the pits. When you see my video, you will have a better idea of how much I'm talking about. Velocity has definitely got the advantage.

Im pretty sure Barry cuts his forks down to the bare minimum.
His bikes have always sat really low.
One of the suspension gurus (Traxxion Dynamics?) suggested loading the front end for best weight distribution. Apparently this technique is employed by alot of fast roadracers.

Thats pretty tricky..... But whats is say for John going an 8.05 with a 17" front and no off set triple tree? Riding mofo huh? 8.0s at 60" is un fucking believable.....Just 2 years ago SBS was 8.0s

Bergie are you saying there's no minimum ground clearance in SBS? Didn't Duck get disqualified in Norwalk for bumping the 2" bar?

The Blackbird is a Prostar SBS bike - I don't think there is a SBS class in MIR/Rock anymore.

I bought that motor from Sasha, he dropped it off Wednesday, thanks for the great hookup. Falicon is blueprinting the crank as we speak. Also cryo-treating it, the pistons & rods. I hope to get it running within the next week or so. I had a receiver groove cut in the sleeves, with SS orings in the head.
What about your 1278? What did you switch your plans to?

Well I do know from following ProStock that they want as much weight forward as possible. That's the reason they want jockeys to ride the bikes there little and don't weight squat. So they can move as much extra weight as far forward as they can. Bike weights 350 to 400lbs, rider 135 to 150 lbs and then you get to put as much as 100lbs in the front have of the bike to make the 600lbs min. weight. So if you could take 50 to 100 lbs of weight and move it from the back to the front it would make a difference on the top end. If you start playing with weight on your bike try and keep the weight below the axles or as close as possible.
Next time that you look at a P/S Bike look how close the motor is to the front wheel.
