Shock Info

How many people are running an aftermarket shock or re-valved shock? I had a re-valved shock and am now shopping for another option. 2001 zx12 66 1/2" wheelbase and 300+ hp.

So far, the best shock out there is also the best for the 12. Ohlins makes a shock perfect for the 12. You can adjust the spring tension while sitting at a traffic light.

Going to try a Fox shock that steve is loaning me for the new project...supposed to be shorter than the stocker and allows for more adjustment.

The Ohlins has about 2 inches of ride height adjustment also.

The shock that failed was a stock revalved NLR unit, I wont go that route again. Trust me when a shock fails on a run and you loose all the compression dampning, you shoot for the sky almost faster than you can think. Cracked an oil pan and scratched up the tail section. I guess I will check some options before I order something soon.

O1... do you have a cut oil pan? Do you run a sidewinder? Turbo?
If you notice, the oil drain plug is the lowest. Once you address this, then the headers are the lowest point. If you go to a sidewinder, then the shock clevis is the lowest point.

Alot of guys are using the Penske 3 way shock for $ 1000.00...I heard that the Fox shock leaks and needs revalving sooner than Ohlins and Penske...

Penske is made in the USA and is easier to get parts and revalving than the Ohlins!!!

The Orient Express team uses Penske!!!

Rickey Gadson uses the Fox shock!!!
