8.50 ZX12
That's the objective.
What do you think i need to do.
Don't want to go any longer than 6 over if i can help it.
here's the plan................
1361 (maybe low compression) with 100hp shot( nos wet)degee cams (105, 105)
6 over arm. (already have it)
weight on front (how much, how?)
slam front and back (muzzy bar, drop forks and strap)
good wheel bearing (world wide)
non oring chain. (???????????)
lighten (i know not much comes off.)
maybe ............................
1270/1290 would be better?
headwork ?
cams?
Any recommedations?
Anyone been 8.50 on a zx12 yet?

This all depends on how money you want to spend?? What's your budget?? That will determine how fast you go.
I personaly know of one person on this web site that has spent allot of money trying to go fast like 7K+ in the last year ( That I know of ) and has hit the low 9's on motor. So if you think that this going to be done cheap, forget it... But you are on the right track..

No Billet for me. Big Motor and Big SPRAY Pills!
I've already been 8.87 but i need 4 tenths and i would rather follow a proven map than figure everything out myself.
That's why I said 8.50... To find out what i need then calc what it will COST.
Maybe i can't afford to go that fast, but who knows .
I'll be the first to say i'd never be this fast if it wasn't for lots of help.
These board are great when it comes to helping fellow racers.
Has anyone seem a 8.50 zx12? besides ricky and ryan?

You could run that number with 300hp, but you'll need to have your chassis and clutch setup right. You'll need to come out hard and get in the spray early, and that will take some tuning, and riding of course. You can do it

There's a guy that comes to several of the Prostar races and runs SBS with a green 12, I think he may go by the board name of "Cleaner".
I've watched him run some low 8's and I'm thinking he either broke into the 7's or got real close. He sprays but I don't know any details on the bike.

You 2.. get a room...lol
Im assuming you havent started yet?? Perhaps look into buying Don Smiths turbo 12. More than enough hp to start with... all you need to do is setup the chassis correctly. Its already been 216 or so in a mile.

for the price you are spending on a wet kit and the stroker motor you could easily afford a cheap turbo kit. It would be rather easy to set one up using a powercommander and an FMU. If you bought some RC injectors from Muzzys, you could make lots of HP for cheap. The only initial cost would be a turbo and header and up pipe. The stock boots and everything else will work. Still, as the cost of the motor and nitrous esp if you plan on cams and headwork, and a good pipe and wheelbearings(dont need em) it would be much cheaper to build a Ghetto turbokit. Plus, no worries about bearings with stock cranks and no boom boom on your pistons with boost and some good gas. Cylinder pressures are just TOO high with nitrous, esp with a 100 shot. If you bought turbo pistons and a spacer you could run 320HP or so all the time.....

I like the Nitrous plan, because i won't have to relearn to ride.
I leave pretty good. 1.46 - 1.48 usually with no ballast weights on the
front, and muzzy links in the middle hole . I'm hoping for 1.3's with weight , slammed, sidewinder and cut pan.
The weight will also allow more Nitrous sooner in the run.
The plan make the main concentration getting the power to do the job.
Currently i can hit a 48hp wet shot at the top of 1st, makes me think the chassie is working pretty good.
If anyone knows of a flaw in this plan i'd like to know BEFORE i spent the money.

I MIGHT be able to get to 8.50's, MIGHT...
First I have to assure my 1427 will live reasonably long at it's current CR. This has gotten my 220# suited TFA to 8.790@159.1.
In the next 2 weeks I am adding 48mm TB's and Marvic wheels which will help a bit, but prolly not dramatically.
Then, i plan to add 40hp and up via wet? nitrous, carefully step up the shot monitoring impact on the engine via oil analysis after every trip to the track.
Can I make it to 8.59999999999????? With the expertise of Dr. JohnnyCheese, I might make it. stay tuned...
However, after sinking mojo bux into my all motor configuration, if I had to do it again from the start, I would take Red's suggestion and do a low boost, 300hp turbo.

Ya Know....You guys really know how to screw up a good post!!!! Nasty!
I think that you can get there on Motor / NOS but it would be hard with only a 1270 / 100hp wet (Maybe if you were 80 lbs like Ryan)..... A little guy on Entropy's 1427 would do the trick!! Only 9.000's for me on my ZX1270 / 40hp dry NOS.
If I do anything else to my 12, it will be a Turbo for sure!!!!

Would 70 hp and a .5 tenth off the 60' be good for 4 tenths?
~180hp and 50shot = 8.87
~200hp and 100shot = 8.50? maybe
subtract .5 tenths from the 60'
can i get there from here.
Somebody say yes, because i'm probably going to do it .
If 1.39 60' and 300 hp won't do 8.50 what will it take?
