Optimal gearing
What have ya'll found to be the best gearing for a stock arm zx12 for the 1/4 mile?

17-46 is hard to beat. It should get you close to the limiter in 4th gear at the traps, assuming you don't spray or have a bigassed motor. 16-44 will lengthen your wheelbase a tad and is pretty close to same ratio as the 17-46.

16/44 works for a lot of people. (essentially the same as a 17/46)

okay...figured it would be a bit longer than what I am running (16-46).. I tried 16-48 and the thing would wheelie its ass off and I'm still having similar results with 16-46

17 / 42 = No MAJOR wheelies....Might want to try something in the middle of yours to mine!!

17/42???? Is that a typo???? That gear is higher that stock... You must be light ZX12 girl launching 17/42 and running time you do...
18/46=2.55 17/42=2.47

The 16-44 gives you an extra 1/2 inch of wheelbase and still use the OEM chain!!!
It works great for me, hits the rev limiter a few feet past the finish, while shifting at 11,300rpm...
