I have a question about the "Turbo" used> I noticed that on the "Race" set up's, that "ALL" Muzzy turbo applications require the oil to be drained from the turbo between rounds! I also noticed that they all seem to have a lot of oil mist inside the airbox.

My questions are, What causes the oil in the air Box? Why does the turbo need to be drained of oil between rounds? Will either of these things be present on the "Street" set up??

I am seriously interested in getting a turbo set up for land speed racing. I want about 400 HP! I have no problem with needing to install Special pistons and valve springs, but these 2 things I want to really understand before I buy the Muzz man's Kit!

Vincent,

The RACE TURBO kit by Muzzys has a scavenger pump that removes the oil from the turbo housing. The reason for this is the turbo sits level or below the oil pan and the oil cannot drain back into the pan...so a pump must be incorporated into the system to pull the oil out and put it back into the pan. The RACE kit has a larger turbo and requires the front to be raked with a triple tree or by having the frame raked in oder to get the bike lowered.

I have not seen the parts break down on the Muzzys Street kit...but i understand it uses a smaller turbo and they may have positioned the turbo where the scavenge pumpm is not needed...will have to wait and see.

Doug

The turbo in the street system will sit just behind the lower V section of the fairing, completely stealth.

Do not worry, after a few times out and you are used to it, you will want 50 to 100 more HP!

VH, it does come with a oil coolier relocator kit. With that in mind, it must be higher or right near the location of the now sitting oil cooler.

Vince- What you saw was a failure of the seal in the Turbo. That unit was replaced and later warranted by Turbonetics.

Thanks, I wondered why the Turbo was replaced! Does that happen often / what is the "Life" of the turbo? Is the "Street" Turbo smaller and "Less" of "More" Prone to this sort of thing? From personally watching "EVERYTHING", that was the "ONLY" thing I saw that was a problem! Everything else was just normal checking and adjusting. It was an "Extremely" clean package.

For You or DM, I first plan to run a big load of NOS and need Serious Stock size pistons to handle the NOS. I know that your pistons have the best ring location to deal with the heat of NOS & Turbo. My question is, do you have a set of Pistons that are "Stock" size that I can use for NOS? My second question is when I plan to switch over to the Turbo, can I still use them but with a Thick Base Plate and make around 350 to 400 HP? (Or will the additional deck height cause problems for cam timing and cam chain length and I will need another set with the lower Compression?)

This is not a Pipe dream! I must run NOS First to get into the 200 MPH Club (More Classes) This is what I am going to do one way or the other, Thanks for your reply and real answer!

Doug Ray, Somehow I missed your post! Thanks, between what Muzzy said and what you said, it "ALL" makes a lot more sense! I am really tickeled that the Muzz man is doing this. You know what the problem is, the more power you have, the more you want. Nos has limitations and the Turbo starts where the NOS Stops. Using both, you are really in business.

Doug Ray, do you have any personal knowledge about STD size pistons for the NOS from Muzzys made in Japan?

What type boost controller comes with the kit?

I know it's a Street kit, but most will probably
take them to the track often, SO.
What else will be needed to USE this new HP on the track?
What mph should one expect with 275 and 750 lbs?

I'm guessing most of us are around 200lbs and the bike is around
500 add 50 for turbo am i close?
