Bikeland's founding 12R may finally be at EOL
fish_antlers got rid of his original 12R a long time ago, but I've had mine thus far. But thinking I may actually let her sleep after my insurance runs out in a couple weeks. Needs too much work just to get it to be remotely safe to ride, and it chews through fuel.
Still damn fun to open the throttle just off the line though.

I received the First, green 12R in Arizona from Kelly's Kawasaki in Mesa early in April of 2000. Still have it. With just over 35K miles, I still run it routinely. Could use new rubber and cooling hoses at the minimum. Just installed a new NOCO Li battery. Hard to believe its been 23+ years!
I have done nearly everything from top secret, top speed runs in the desert with Cycle World magazines Paul Dean to going full knee down on it at track days. I have run all the tracks in Arizona and had the privilege of running Utah Motorsports Campus (Formerly Miller). In addition to running my personal best at Firebird and Speedworld drag strips of 9.89 @ 152 MPH (stock wheelbase) in the 1/4.
The heated grips and Corbin seat have made it decent for all the road trips and day runs I have taken on it.
It has been a true joy to own. Hard to image my life without it in the garage.

phycho, gotta love the Li battery. 10+ pounds saved for not that much more $ than a Pb battery, and min Li lasted some 10 years vs average of 3 for my several previous Pbs.
Wish I had kept mine in better shape like yours. But i kinda trashed it after just 3ish years. Also, has about 70 to 80k (miles) on it. Don't really know since the gauge pod hasn't worked in years.

Thank for the reply. Yeah, the weight savings is quite impressive and it also turns over the engine so fast even at close to if not 14:1 CR! This is very beneficial for priming the engine after some sitting or during oil changes. I just unplug the injector harness and let it spin until I see psi on the mechanical gauge.
Wish it was easy to post a recent pic.
Cheers to you!

I'm actually probably meeting the same destiny. My first 2000 ZX12 (red) was sold after 112tkm (70k miles) to a friend already 2009. Then I purchased another 2000 ZX12 (silver) with just 12k km (7,5k miles). But now that bike is also at 85k km (53k miles) and I've agreed with friends son to purchase it next spring. So after 24 years of ZX12 next summer it is not in my garage anymore... But been really liking the H2 SX so no problem for riding. Also keeping our family Z1300 1984 after I herited it after my dad passed away 2 years ago. It has been in family since new and we ride it trough Europe when I was just a kid.

I almost sold mine this past fall. but I just could not do it... I have a new engine to put in and then I need to do a rebuild so I have another... Thinking about getting a 14 to race in a few years.
