Crank Swap - Worth It?

I ride a 2004 ZX12R and found out the crank in the 00/01 2000 grams lighter (about 4 pounds). Has anyone dropped a 2000/2001 crank into an 03 & up? Did you note a difference in performance / rideability? Thanks.
