hmf owners?
anyone have one of these?
the dyno says 175 hp on their website.
(i know,iknow-just askin.)
is the hp close to this at least.it seems a reasonable price for a comparable h.p pipe. compared to the others, and not trying to start a pipe debate,i just really would like some feedback on this pipe from hmf owners and how they like em.

Nice pipe for the $$$. Definitely on par with the top brands. All the 12s Ive seen with HMFs have idled dead smooth.. just like the stock pipe.

RacerX,
I have a HMF black powder coated 4 into 1 on my Red 2000 ZX12. I chose HMF for two reasons. No idle hunt like the Muzzy and I have owned Muzzy's on all my other bikes. I don't trust the PCIII's. Don't need one with the HMF my bike runs just fine without the PCIII. I'm not sure of the horsepower increase since I haven't had it dynoed but seat of the pants it's a definite increase over the stock system.
I like the sound as well...good rumble at low speed and sings when you turn it on!! I also have BMF filters. I'm very pleased with my system and for the money I think it's right up there with the other top brands.
Hope this helps.

red,
what exactly is powder coated on the pipe system?
the exhaust and the pipeing?or just the exhaust,or both?
i was thinkin carbon cuz it goes best with my bike, but black powder would last longer.
got any pics you can email me?

I've had my HMF for about 2 years now and I'm happy with it.
The bike is a 2000 model and the 2002+ generally make a few more ponies on the dyno.
Mine was 172.6HP, not very well mapped either, but I do have a PCIIIR.
I also had a chance to try the Muzzy pipe AND their "race map", found at zx-12R.org, which is excellent and it was close behind at something like 171HP.
I had the Brock Hindle on the bike as well and was making 174HP before my rear wheel bearing started going bad. (long sad story)
The sound is definitely good, and not like the muzzy, nor the Akro. Idles like a Hindle, but at WOT the HMF is nastier sounding. Makes the Hindle sound kinda plain in comparison.
It's definitely a good pipe for the money.
Oh yeah, My buddy's 2000 12R had a full Micron and he made within .5HP peak horsepower as my HMF. Mine still sounded nastier though.

there are 'splitters' in the Hindle pipes, but not the Brock pipes. The splitter is there were the 4 pipes go to 2 pipes and again where the 2 go to the single mid-pipe.
Also, I believe that Brocks canisters are 2 1/4" all the way through and Hindles are not.
They are business partners though.

RacerX,
The cannister on the HMF is powdercoated in black...other colors are available. I don't currently have any pictures...I'll see if I can take a couple and post them. I decided to stay away from the carbon fiber based on the results of others experiences with other brands. It a very well made pipe for the money and I love it!
Thanks,
Red
