Important question :
My motor in my 12 spun bearings and messed up the crank and cases,we never really figured out why,but it was the 2nd motor to blow(possibly an oiling problem),the bike fell over prior to both engine failures in conjunction w/the oil light comming on,regaurdless of what really cuased the dammage, and after seeing other posts stating damage to bearings/crank,etc,we are cosidering building the bottom end up before finishing the motor, who(what company)makes bearings, connecting rods, etc to make my motor withstand more then what the factory parts do?How about a better oiling system,if I am going to run a built motor, with nos,I would have a little more piece of mind knowing the motor is built to handle it,any names, numbers,or product info would be very helpful to me-thanks..

You have to use Kawi bearings, they are color coded for sizes. Send the crank to APE and have it lightened, balanced and the oil holes chamfered. If I were you I would get a set of carillos, have them weight balanced. Then some GOOD 1270cc pistons for it. See if APE is making an oil pump gear for it yet, if not find out if you can shim the spring in the pump for more pressure. These motors don't really need a lot of pressure, just a lot of volume but if there is not high volume pump parts out yet, I would atleast crank up the oil pressure. Pay special attention to the oil level and don't run it too low. Better over the under, even if you lose a couple hp, those bearings will stay wet. Last but not least get away from those stupid dry systems. Detonation will kill bearings almost as fast as running low on oil. I guarantee you that the dry kits you guys run are making the motor lean as hell. I ain't buying the "IAT sensors fattens it up" BS either. It doesn't have enough stroke with the ECM to correctly fatten it up. This is the same thing I told George but he don't wanna listen and he is gonna pop that 1397. Get a Nitrous Express wet kit, set it up for 60hp to start. Pull out all the timing in the PCIII. Use a "window" switch for the NOS so it will shut off when you shift and use a FP safety switch in line also. I have had atleast 10 NOS kits in my time, all on cars. I have blown up enough shit to know what caused it. Also I have installed several other kits on friend's cars. NOS will screw some stuff up if it ain't right. You 1270/NOS setup should be good for 8.70s with an arm and a GOOD rider. See ya at the Shoot out.

Shit, you better get three big credit cards or take out a small mortgage loan if you want to go to Lee. Also subtract 10-20hp off of what the his chart tells you and thats what you really have. I got a price list from him for a busa. Would cost you about $8k to have him build a 1397 and thats not installed.

Apparently Kawasaki put a bigger oil pump in the 2002 model. Do they know something that we're just finding out? -ZXtra

I can't speak for Lee's numbers. I take anybody's numbers with a grain of salt. Hopefully I'll have my own numbers in a month or two. We'll see.
