PC3R question

I am planning on taking my zx-12 to kws motosports in january for remapping of the power commander. i got one of the early versions without the ignition timing feature. i am using the muzzy advancer set at 5 degrees advance as reccomended by muzzy. is there any advantage to having the ability to run a more flexable advance curve that would justify replacing my pc-3 with a pc-3r. has anyone replaced the pc-3 with a pc-3r who had the muzzy advancer and dyno tuned the new combination? the motor is a 1270 with all the common mods and a fully ported head. it is making 197 corrected h/p at present. it will surprise me if kevin can squeeze any more peak h/p from my motor but i am expecting the tuning link setup to produce a smoother midrange curve.

PCIII-R

Im definately no expert... but here is my theory:

The advantage of the PCIIIr is that you are can adjust the timing throughout different RPM/Throttle positions (I call this dynamic timing adjusting) VS the 5 degree advance throughtout your range with your fixed (static) timing. How much differance does this make? Probably not much. Except in the lower RPM, when you don't really need the advance. The bike probably runs a bit better low RPM-wise with less than 5 degrees advance. If it was me, I wouldn't change it..... if it ain't broke... don't fix it.

Just my .02

I was thinking about switching the PC-3 out for a PC-3R, but the dealer convinced me that the Muzzy advancer would be good enough. He felt more comfortable with a mechanical advancer versus an electronic advancer since if the PC-3R went haywire, it could really mess up your bike.

Also, my bike ran better in the low range and overall when I had the Muzzy advancer installed.
