cable lubing thing: doesn't work worth a shit???
I got me one o' those cool looking lil cable lubing things that clamps on the cable, and you spray into a little hole, supposedly the oil is forced down the cable.
Didn't work worth a shit for me. Anyone have success?

yeh, maybe your cable is too small?
or there is a bad blockage.
i usually send a healthy dose of WD40 through first, thenuse the cable lube once it is all smooth and working

Are the cables teflon lined? If so, you have to use special teflon lube or the insides of the cables can swell up and make the cables stick. I'm not sure if the cables are this type though.

I just use the ol PB blaster and a rag. Works for me.

On mine, the inner rubber part have different stepped diameters to accept differently sized cables. Be sure that you own cable is correctly inserted into the smallest diameter it will fit in before snuggly tightening the screw. If not, the lube will not find its way into the cable but, instead, will take the easiest path which will be all around the cable.

Claude gave the best description yet! SInce you are possible the first person I have ever heard of having a problem, do not get insulted with the next few questions, but answer them.
#1, Are you trying to lube the clutch cable or the throttle or Idle up lever?
#2, Did you remove the cable drom the holder (Clutch lever, Throttle housing, etc)
#3, Did you slide the tool as far on the the cable housing as you could? (Large opening on the cable housing, small or no opening over the cable)
#4, Did you make sure the cable was in the middle before you tightened up the tool?
#5, Did you tighten up the tool as much as possible (By Hand)?
#6, did you insert the straw from the can of lube into the can and tool hole as far as possible?
If you did all of these things, and wrapped a few paper towels around the tool, you should have no problems.
You also did not saw "Exactly" what happened? No lube came out, it came out everywhere? What?

I've got one and it works great. You do have to have everything just right though, or you're just wasting lube.

They actually make something to substitute sticking a plastic tube inside another plastic tube and pushing a button?

If its the little aluminum one....I've been using those things for years with maximum success.....I even wore one out last year that I have had for 16 years.
It should be no problem entropy....just re-asess the situation......you have to fit the luber onto the cable just right and fit the lube tube into the luber just right.
Did I say that...some of that didnt sound right....oh well....you get the idea!

any of you all use a graphite based lube called Dryslide? We use to use that on dirtbikes, cause it didnt atract dirt?

Mine works fine as it has for many years.I use molyd- disulfide lube same as dryslide i think.Sprays wet and then dries.It's used a lot on acft.

There is usually a bit of spray lube coming out where the rubber can't seal against the braided cable perfectly.
I just wrap a rag around the whole thing before pressing the button on the spray can.
