Can someone measure a ZX-12 swingarm for me?
I'm looking for swingarm options for my ZRX, the stock arm has gotta go!
I need the width of the pivot tube, and the approximate length of the arm from the center of the pivot shaft to the center of the axle mount.
I suspect I will have to remove some material from the pivot tube, but that's not a problem as long as the arm has enough material that can be removed!
I will also keep my dual shocks, I'll just weld shock mounts in the appropriate places.
I know a ZX11 arm can be modified, but 12 arms seem to be plentiful, I'm guessing they might be a bit stronger...

Spell out ALL the measurements that you will need and I'll do my best to give them to you. It might take a day or two to put all the numbers together so just e-mail me what you want at adcraft@sbcglobal.net.
I have an A model ('00-'01) swingarm sitting next to my bike as I type this. The B model ('02-'04) is different, but I couldn't tell you in what aspects. If your gonna do it right, I figure you'll need all kinds of measurements ranging from the ID of the pivot shaft opening to the distance to the shock opening. All in all, there's 12~20 measurements you might need.
Not to mention part numbers for bearings, circlips, etc. As far as the what length the dog bones need to be to get the proper ride height... your on your own there.

Thanks Redelk, I'll Email you.
No dogbones involved in this swap, my ZRX has dual shocks on it, so it will just be a matter of welding some shock mounts in the appropriate place.

Why does the stock arm have to go ?
I have a 2002 swingarm sitting on a shelf here if you need something on it measured.

The stock arm can't have an adjustable extension installed, at least not by anyone that I've contacted.
I'd like to go 0-6", so I'll fit whatever arm I need to so I can make it adjustable.
Which arm do you have there, a ZRX or a ZX12?

If it's a ZX12 arm, could you please measure across the pivot tube, I need the width where it mounts to the frame.
Also, the distance center to center from the axle mount to the swingarm mounting bolt hole, somewhere in the middle range of the axle adjustment.
Thanks!

Troy - you can get a 0-6 over ZRX swingarm from JMC (swingarm.com) for $660 delivered from the UK, and sell your stocker for a couple hundred.
Let me know when your tube header is ready for release...

Dean, you're right, for some reason I thought that swingarm was more than that!
Do you recommend any bracing on that arm?
Which header were you interested in, the tubular one with a 4 into 1 collector? I can't remember which one I mentioned.
At the present time I'm building some thickwall mild steel ones, log type that allow high turbocharger placement for gravity drainback, they support over 250 HP so far, but technically are not as good as the isolated tube headers.
I'll be making up a few tubular stainless headers, I want to put something bigger on my motor after I get the rods and pistons installed, and the rest of the motor strengthened, it should be good for 400 something HP, which will be fine for those peaceful Sunday rides in the country to take in the sights!!
The tubular headers will probably place the turbo low enough to require some sort of scavenging arrangement, but that's the price you have to pay for higher HP!
I'll keep you informed of my progress.

The JMC is 6061 box section, much stronger than the spindly round tube stock arm. The bracing would be for aesthetics only. Expect to wait 6 weeks or so to get one.
To go turbo I'd be interested in the 4-1 tube header and keep the power ceiling out of view if possible
Got some ignition gremlins figured out and will go to the track this Friday to test out the new progressive box - hope the weather holds out.
good luck,
Dean
