Any ideas? ??????

Well since it was a balmy 28 degrees this morning, I decided to ride in to work. I went to my basement and uncovered my baby. On top of one fork tube (on the adjusters and all around them)there was a thick layer of white corrosion. the other had some corrosion but a very thin layer. It almost looks like dry white toothpaste. what would cause this? I rode it last week and the corrosion was not there when I put it away. I keep the bike covered in my basement. the rest of the bike looks fine no corrosion anywhere. Any ideas?
I hope santa brings me a digital camera so I can post a pic next time.

Alan

That is weird. I doubt even salt water would cause what sounds like a lot of corrosion in so short a time span.

Have you considered biologicals? (Rats?)

white stuff

is it possible that a squirrel jumped up onto your forks and let loose with some extremely acidic urine while the bike was still outside while waiting to go to the basement?
